Introduction
Literature review is the process of utilizing and evaluating scholarly information and substantive findings in a given area of study to support a research. The main objectives of reviewing literature are to demonstrate the author's knowledge using previous vital variables and phenomena ("Differences between Quantitative and Qualitative Intros and Lit Reviews," 2019). Usually, researchers review literature from primary and secondary data that could either be qualitative or quantitative respectively. Therefore, it is essential in the narrowing down the scope of a new research through the relevant transition of the current context. A quantitative literature review is the systematic use of scholarly variables which are numerical. A qualitative literature review is a process of deriving data through observation, verbal interaction, interview, and interpretation of the data from the participants ("Differences between Quantitative and Qualitative Intros and Lit Reviews," 2019). For instance, Gorveunder dissertation articulately explores the qualitative aspect in justifying the qualitative findings of brand loyalty among the customers. On the other hand, Mulligan explores quantitative literature reviews on the traditional theoretical framework. This paper focuses on the differential components between the qualitative or quantitative literature reviews from the two desertions considering key identifiable elements.
First, qualitative literature review consists of data reviewed through observation, interview, and verbal interaction. From Gorveunder's dissertation, the qualitative analysis is established through observation of virtual online communication among people within the United States of America regarding brand perception. The study explores virtual communities by highlighting issues regarding brand perception. On the other side, Mulligan's Dissertation uses quantitative methods by utilizing the traditional methodologies in establishing route for the current study ("Social Research Glossary", 2019). In this case, the quantitate review of literature adopts the general numerical assumption of the topic of discussion. For instance, Mulligan dissertation identifies a decline in education ranking in the United States of America.
Secondly, qualitative literature under the Gorveunder's dissertation analyses raw data which involve a thorough synthesis of the findings ("LibGuides: Systematic Reviews in the Health Sciences: What is a systematic review?", 2019). For instance, the authors aim at fusing data from the Business Source Complete, ProQuest, LopeSearch, Google Scholar, EBSCOhost, and Gale PowerSearch databases. The fusion process will enable the author develop common findings and identify crucial components form the databases essential in the study. On the other side, quantitative literature fuses the traditional theories to discover an association with the current research ("Social Research Glossary", 2019). For instance, Mulligan's Dissertation identifies the conventional leadership theories developed 100 years and defines potential path in the developing servant leadership in his study.
Thirdly, qualitative literature review approach gain insight into a phenomena through an intensive study of data analysis ("LibGuides: Systematic Reviews in the Health Sciences: What is a systematic review?", 2019). Gorveunder utilizes the C2Cexchangeand MOA framework in exploring online participation of the study population regarding brand loyalty. He uses the past assumption on C2C exchange by analysis the current information regarding C2C exchange and MOA models concerning participant's experience. Quantitative literature review maximizes the use approved traditional findings and use them in generating determining a new study ("Social Research Glossary", 2019). This approach attempts to objectify operationalization of a context. This approach specifies criteria to validate concepts in a research through an observable phenomenon in a study findings. For instance, Mulligan quantifies objectified operation of thought on leadership by utilizing previous results of other scholars. In this case, the Mulligan' dissertation depends on earlier findings in generating his study findings. Therefore, the previous findings used in Mulligan's dissertation should be reliable and valid to enhance consistency and measurable respectively.
Fourthly, qualitative literature review his tentative and evolves depending on the areas of study. For instance, Gorveunder's dissertation explore online participations regarding brand perception and loyalty. In future another research may explore the same to derive more elements on brand perception and loyalty in a study area ("LibGuides: Systematic Reviews in the Health Sciences: What is a systematic review?", 2019). Once Gorveunder has completed his justification and findings, the research is open for more findings by other researchers. On contrary point of view, quantitative literature review uses the theoretical rationality that does not evolve and justifies an outcome and the relationship between dependent variable against the independent variables. Mulligan's study focuses on the impact of servant leadership in classroom and student's achievement. The study identifies the dependent variable upon the effects of classroom dynamics on leadership against the independent variables of student's grades.
Finally, qualitative literature review does not depend on the historical disturbance. It depends on the specified findings to justify a research. Gorveunder's dissertation focus on online community participation in defending the findings of the study. On the contrary point, quantitative literature review is underpinned by the traditional and falsified approaches ("Social Research Glossary", 2019). For example, Mulligan's research uses the social and scientific theories from Weber and Taylor regarding servant leadership development. The foundation of theories din his research consists of servant leadership development and the organizational climate.
Conclusion
In conclusion, quantitative literature review is a practical methodology for exploring the new discipline in comparison against the traditional narratives. It also bridges the existing gap the traditional findings with the new meta-analysis in a study area ("Social Research Glossary", 2019). Qualitative literature review aims at establishing an insight understanding of a phenomenon. In these cases, the qualitative approach does not depend on the historical justification but rather on the informal interviews, participant observation and data collection from documented databases. The two dissertations have elaborated their path of reviewing literatures of the study areas.
