Introduction

The speaker makes use of narrative in telling the story of the author through various ways. He begins the story with a hook to capture the listener's attention. In the hook, he states the year in which Garcia won the Nobel prize in literature before stating the level of influence of Garcia in the literary sphere. The listener can make a decision about whether to listen to a story within the first few seconds. The speaker uses descriptions to tell the story of the author. He provides deep, interesting, and vivid descriptions of the author that helps the viewer to get drawn into the deep-end of the story (Serrat, 2017). He uses and describes components of the author's writing such as magical realism. This shows that he carried out research on the work of the author and understands what it means hence his ability to comfortably describe some of the features of the author's works.

There is the use of reflection throughout the story. The hook reflects on the middle-aged Garcia when he received his first major prize in literature. The speaker pauses from time to time to show reflective videos of Garcia speaking to an audience. Reflection is used to paint a clear picture in the minds of the viewers concerning the life and achievements of the subject (Dmytryk, 2018).

The speaker classifies different points of the author's life from the time when Garcia was a middle-aged man to his elderly years. His fame started as an author and later expanded to film and development of talent among youths through the establishment of a film school. He became renowned to the extent of becoming close friends with Fidel Castro among other world leaders. His life ended in isolation from the public eye. He rarely appeared in public gatherings and when he showed up on the few occasions, he did not speak to his supporters. Classification of every step of the author's life lets the viewer get a snippet of each point in the author's life (Mittell, 2015).

Garcia acknowledged that filmmaking was definitely more difficult than he expected. He was an author for many years and for such an established author to admit the difficulty of film-making, it means that he could feel the difference between writing and making films. In making a film, the film-maker has to incorporate the skills and abilities of different people in order to come up with a piece that the audience would love (Stam, 2017). Writing a book depends solely on the abilities and imagination of the author.

The Nobel Prize Committee described some of the notable characteristics of Garcia as a creator and one of the most accomplished writers ever. His world of storytelling is described as a 'microcosmos.' (Stam, 2017) His achievements are commendable considering that his books have been translated into numerous languages from their time of publication. His literary influence enabled him to sell more than 30 million copies of the novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude." Overall, it is evident that the significance of Gabriel Garcia in the literary world can never be ignored.
