The article is giving a detailed argument on Shooters and how they impact the people playing these games. I tend to believe that this is the topic being covered because the author is giving a description of the different shooter games he well understands. He further argues out on the game Spec Ops; Line which he finds interesting as it is filled with amazing features.

2. Do you think any of the authors arguments explain why people play first-person shooter games? Which one do you think makes the most sense? Why?

The authors argument on the Shooter Splinter Cell: Blacklist demo and the Spec Ops: The Line tries to explain why people like playing first-person shooter games.

I think the argument on the Shooter Splinter demo makes some sense. The gamer is in control of what is taking place in that you can destroy anybody who tries to get in your way. Many people like that in the real world and will love playing this character. As a gamer, you go about killing people and even compelling others to give you information by inflicting pain or torture to them. Anger gives player strength. One can decide whether to kill or just knock out the victim they have tortured.

3. Do you agree or disagree with Erik Kains idea that killing people in video games is solving moving puzzles.? Explain.

I strongly disagree with Erik Kain on the idea that killing people in video games is just solving a puzzle. Looking at his thoughts in the real world, it is absurd. Why then do the puzzles have to shed blood or scream? If we are talking about giving solutions to a puzzle, then the solution should not inflict pain or involve the shedding of blood for it to be solved (Kain, 2013).

4. Based on this article, would you want to play Spec Ops: The Line? What descriptive elements made you want to play or not play the game?

I would wish to play the game Spec Ops: The Line because from the description, the game sounds interesting. Sandstorms have hit the city of Dubai for as long as six months making it inhabitable. The storms lead to the disappearance of the U.S military. They find themselves in an abandoned place. From here, a colonel arises to lead the troop which then gets nutty. You and two other guys are then sent by the United States to rescue the lost battalion.

The game reaches a point where laughter comes in at the sight of a man running towards you with a knife while whistling. The game depicts this guy as very dangerous. But when he appears to attack, those with you will alert you to the presence of the enemy with a knife. The weapons a player uses are automatic so as to make attacking the guy with a knife easier. During the combat, it is captivating when the player plunges white phosphorus on the U.S soldiers. Very few and almost none of the games available will give you such an incredible opportunity to meet American soldiers and destroy them. The gamer is depicted as brave and tactful with additional safety tricks to use (Bissell, 2012).

5. Which of the thirteen points in this article did you find the most interesting? Why?

I find the eighth point very fascinating. The reason being, the author is trying to figure out why he and other people love shooters. He realizes that Shooters has familiarized many people with battle even made the fearless courageous. In a way, Shooters tries to reveal the shadow human being in every gamer. The human shadow in you emerges and acts, that is not the real you. The ability of one to do what pleases them and even takes away life without fear comes in. He further literates that Shooters are a form of power fantasy whereby power is tapped from the brain, and it will act as a motivator to face the opponent. There is a lot of pressure when learning how to play Shooters, and this is the reason why the author likes it. However, he does not agree with one point where some people believe that they play Shooters to blow off steam. To him instead, he believes it is taking in steam (Bissell, 2012).
