Laura Camera, an education reporter, focusses more on religious discrimination: - anti-Muslim discrimination in schools. She highlights that more than 4.7 million foreign students are enrolled in the United States educational system, and another 20 million students belong to immigrant parents- Education Department. The anti-Muslim sentiments are aggravated by the ongoing terrorist attacks. This kind of discrimination is attributed to mostly students from Syria and Middle Eastern territories or those perceived to be Muslim. The students are left vulnerable to attacks by other students and the teaching fraternity. In this light, the teacher calls for more discussions and activities channeled at coping with the current global events and the different points-of-view.

Carnock Janie highlights the challenge attributed to discrimination of children during their formative years. The author connotes that during this early years is when a child formulates a perception towards school and the surrounding environment. Therefore, discrimination will tend to have the child have a pervasive perception on schooling. The consequence of these is negative psychological, academic and social results. The challenge is mainly accrued to children of immigrant parents who make up a quarter of all the children under the age of eight in the United States. The young demography faces discrimination their peers and teachers who fail in the right strategy or guidelines to handle these special needs children. On this note, the author highlights that the children of immigrants are faced with discrimination in the form of racial, socioeconomic and reduced access to quality teachers, resources, and schools.

The Feminist Majority Foundation denotes the Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments. The article highlights that prior to the mentioned law, quotas existed that denied both men and women in particular professions such as law and the medical fields. In 2010, 78 percent of the veterinary students were female with 15 percent of students in nursing being men (2014). However, it connotes that discrimination still exists with 90 percent of the women being directed to traditional female fields- vocational and technical- with two-thirds of special education students being men.

Joy Resmovits, a senior education reporter of the Huffington, highlights the disproportionate rates of school suspensions for African-American students and those with disabilities- a report by the Discipline Research-to-Practice Collaborative. The article denoted a report by twenty-six experts that detailed the school-to-prison pipeline tides from school discipline that disproportionately impacted students from poor backgrounds and those with disabilities. It mainly engages the thesis school-to-prison pipeline- a current form of disciplinary approach that punished students of color and those with disabilities more than the white demography and has perpetually gained steam. The article includes the LGBT, girls of color and Latino students as among those suffering from discrimination in education. It connotes that African-American students were 1.78 times more probable to be excluded out of school with those of the Latino being 2.23 times higher as compared to the white students. The school-to-prison disciplinary approach brings forth contention in both execution and implications.

Rothstein highlights that not only poverty play a part in depressed student performance. In this regard, the author highlights that putting the racially and economically disadvantaged children in homogenous schools restricts their performance even further. From this, a multigenerational segregated poverty can be said to characterize many African American children mostly and hence, education and performance are constrained. This is also attributed to the de facto housing policies by the government that were once de jure motivated by racial slurs. Therefore, with the residential segregation, institutional discrimination is bound to happen.

Deborah J. Vagins from the ACLU Washington Legislative Office highlights that a report proposed by the Department of Justice confirmed that discrimination in education is a dominant issue. In this regard, she highlights that positive reinforcement has proven to be more efficient as compared to the school-to-prison disciplinary exclusionary strategy. The rise in the proliferation of the mentioned disciplinary system is attributed to a rise in law enforcement and zero-tolerance policies. The schools must comprehend the civil rights obligations and thus, deter from punishing students discriminatively. In the article, Vagins highlights from the Department of education data that black students constitute 15 percent of students in the entire data. However, 35 percent of them have received at least one suspension and are nearly half of the students who have been suspended more than a single time (44 percent). Also, over 50 percent school-related arrests are attributed to black and Latino students. Disabled students constituted 14 percent of the data set but were 76 percent of the students physically controlled by adults in their schools.
