Food waste or wastage is the act or process by which food is discarded or lost without being put to good use or its intended purpose. There are numerous reasons and causes of food wastage which normally occurs at various production, retailing, consumption and processing stages. In other words, wastage is witnessed in various stages of food value or supply chain.
