Business Administration Program at Ryerson University: Personal Statement

Introduction

I am Abeson Satchithananthan, a grade 12 student at Sir John A Macdonald C.I. in Toronto. I am enrolled in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) where I receive support from the special education department. After my high school education, I hope to join Ryerson University's Business Administration program. I have always been interested in Business Administration, and I believe Ryerson University will provide me with the right environment to succeed. I admire the distinctive and experiential learning opportunities provided by the school. I have always wanted to learn in an environment which allows me to network with professional leaders and enables me to develop my business skills. It is my utmost hope that my application to the institution will be accepted. The main purpose of this letter is to inquire about the accommodation program at the university. I have read some information regarding the same on the university's website, but I believe it would help if someone explained everything to me. I would like to know more about the application process, offers and fees involved so that I can make a more informed choice.

Getting into the Business Administration program offered at Ryerson University will enable me to build on my interest in business. I understand that excelling in the program will require me to be actively involved in the learning process and to utilize various learning resources. I have always been good at active listening and taking notes, and I hope to continue to use these skills to excel in the program. I am also a very organized person. I like to do everything according to schedule since it allows me to use my time constructively. Unlike other young people, I have always been organized with my binders which illustrates my strong organizational skills. My organizational skills will not only help me to fit into the university's programs but will also ensure that I am well-prepared for test evaluations. It is in my understanding that the program involves some presentations and also requires some language skills. I would, therefore, like to point out that I struggle with presentations due to my shyness. I have difficulties presenting in front of large groups of people, and I need ways of managing the situation. I am, however, focused on improving the situation. I plan on perfecting my presentation skills through presenting in front of smaller crowds then gradually advancing to larger crowds. I also need to improve my language skills as I have always had trouble putting my thoughts on paper, writing an essay with proper grammar and making sense of my writing. I plan on improving my language skills by reading other well-written essay samples and learning more vocabulary. I hope that the essay samples from the professor will enable me to learn how to present information creatively and also enable me to write high-quality essays. Learning new vocabulary should help me improve my word choice during writing.

Conclusion

I am very excited about the opportunity of attending Ryerson University next year. It is my sincere hope that the university will grant me the chance to become part of the Ryerson community.
