Health advocacy campaign is aimed at the building of healthier communities from the present generation to the next generation. In regards to this perspective policy makers like the World Health Organization and other national health, institution comes up with the strategic mechanism of annihilating some diseases out of the majority of the population. Advocacy campaigns are usually targeted towards the development of highly creative and eccentric mechanism of community health training, medical policies, research and even training of local community members on safe health practices. Community advocacy campaign against diabetes is a critical part of a healthy living society. The fight against diabetes is highly important because people living with diabetes have an unfair way of living with the chronic disease which is too much to bear. Secondly, individuals living with diabetes have barriers of enjoying life as any other healthy human being would hence it calls for action against this chronic disease that is considered as a major factor of disease caused global mortality rates (Kindig, 2017). In order to achieve the set objectives, there is need to bring down the barriers preventing the annihilation of diabetes and increase funds for research efforts into stopping diabetes.

The article clearly states that despite diabetes being one of the biggest contributors of mortality rates across the globe, no affirmative actions have been taken against this disease. The article clearly indicates that the major constraints to lowering the increased cases of diabetes are the lack of advocacy on a global scale, insufficient attention is paid to the disease by funding agencies, partnerships and governments as well. There is a need for increased advocate for preventable diseases globally. It is a fact that in every 10 seconds in the world someone dies from diabetes and the gravity of the epidemic is not taken seriously as it should. Individuals with diabetes in the United States of America spend six times more the amount of money on healthcare as compared to a non-diabetic individual. Globally 246 million people have diabetes, and the numbers keep on rising as nothing much is done to cordon this situation.

The global consequences of diabetes include increased the cost of medical expenses loss of productivity as an indirect consequence and low quality of life of families of the infected. The major problem is that donor funding is made available only for vaccines and quick remedy disease, diabetes is considered secondary, and few care to fund its research. Issues such as lack of global advocacy, medical research partnerships, capacity and necessary resources and the global health services operation protocols have been seen as impediments to advocacy on diabetes.

Advocacy campaigns in this regard are aimed towards the removal of all barriers to wiping out diabetes. Advocacy campaigns launched have been aimed at population health practices training on health dieting and promotion of physical activity. Progress on the actualization of these campaigns has been challenging mainly due to lower funding. The United Nations launched the Unite for Diabetes Campaign in 2006 in a bid to help abate the situation that was falling out a hand (Siegel, & Narayan, 2017). Looking back, little has been achieved since the inception of the project. The project called out for:

Placement as the top global agenda

Increase Diabetes awareness through mass education campaigns

Address poverty as a great obstacle to access to quality health care and insulin injections.

UN resolution requiring all governments to develop national plans for disease prevention and treatment provision.

This article clearly describes the challenges that have been encountered in the previously launched advocacy campaigns on abating of diabetes. In this regard, the article clearly describes that primary prevention of diabetes speeding is a critical challenge, poor testing, and early diagnosis measures, lack of access to care for persons living with diabetes and improvement of care facilities and resources for persons with diabetes is noted a critically in need of funding. Advocacy campaign launched aimed at providing diabetes testing and diagnosing services to higher income individuals as the earlier concept was that diabetes is a disease for the well off in society. Critically, this advocacy missed to look into cases of diabetes among the low-income groupings, low-income groups have low access to funds to help them maintain their insulin prescription and maintain healthy diets. The lack of getting a complete oversight of the cases of diabetes among the poor people serves no good in the fight against diabetes ("Diabetes | Healthy People 2020", 2017).

The lack of resources in treating individuals with diabetes in many of the advocacy campaigns launched is an arising matter. The cases of type 2 diabetes are ever increasing in such a way that treatment availability for the ever increasing numbers is becoming a scarce resource.

Proposed Solution

The development of a diabetes campaign policy is aimed at the abating the diabetes epidemic globally. The structures and strategies named below can be applied at the global level and national level.

Increasing funding for diabetes research- This is aimed at boosting funding for research activities that are aimed at finding a cure for diabetes.

Increasing resources in diabetes treatment- Provision of enough supply of insulin and another diabetes suppressant to all medical and community health centers.

Subsidizing cost of diabetes treatment- This solution is aimed at reducing the cost of access to diabetes medical services in both national and community health facilities.

Educational Campaigns- All effort should be put forward by governments to educate its citizens on health practices that would help abate the rates of diabetes among its citizens.

Objectives

The main objective of this advocacy complain is to reduce the cases of diabetes globally and cut down death cases caused by diabetes.
