The right of a person to make choices about their body should be in their hands. However, throughout the world, many of these decisions are left for either the government or medical practitioners. The only ones that people can make decisions on are also guarded either by the community or the family cultural beliefs (Amnesty International para 1). Different states have different age limits for many things. But 18 years seem to be the typical age that many young people are allowed to make choices in their lives.

It is the role of the society to ensure that young people are well guided in their lives. Some of the basic areas that someone needs to be educated comprehensively are sexual health which is significant in decision making processes. Health education ought to teach age-appropriate lessons on sex, abstinence and contraceptives. The benefits of having a well counseled youth are that they are able to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy relationships. They are able to communicate sexuality concerns. They have the autonomy to decide what is good or not for their bodies (Bridges and Hauser para 3).

My body my choice slogan has been used widely in the fight for the rights to make own decisions. Some of the areas that have been of concern include marriage rights, abortion, and reassignment of gender, drug use surrogacy and sex work. Munkittrick (para 6), states that the reasons that are given in the challenge of own decisions are that life is precious and people should not be watched as they ruin it. The other is that some of the decisions that people want freedom for such as drug use have an impact on lives of others such as children and therefore people have to have control. The last reason given is some of the decisions go against the culture and tradition of the people. For example gender reassignment may be argued to be correcting the creation of God.

Sanctuary cities

The election of President Trump has brought forth many discussions about these sanctuary cities. According to Shoichet, The National Conference of State Legislatures has received more than 80 bills which are in regard to the sanctuary cities (para 2). There has been a major concern as to whether the local government and the feds are in the same page on enforcement of immigration rights. Attorney General and the president agree that these cities should not receive funding and these will help in their closure. However many local governments have issued lawsuits whish are aimed at stopping this processes. They urge that the move will definitely harm many members of their communities.

The order given does not clearly indicate the jurisdiction that will be used to enable it (Lee, Omri and Preston para 2). The argument is that sanctuary cities allow for criminals to walk in the country freely and once they are deported the rate of crimes will reduce significantly. The current laws have restrictions as to how long local police is allowed to hold people they think are immigrants and collaboration with the immigrant agents is also controlled. The local government who are against the directive say that the police do not have any restrictions towards pursuit of immigrants that commit crimes and when caught they are dealt with.

Texas is the most recent state to enact the law against sanctuary cities. The governor Greg Abbott signed the bill which gives the police the right to enquire about the immigration status of anybody they have in custody( Singman para 2)

Ethical and unethical psychological experiments

The code of ethics is used in the profession to ensure that standards are followed. However if any of the codes are broken a court of law has to determine the legal liability of the psychologist. Violation can be used in cases depending on the circumstances (American Psychological Association para 4).

The profession has worked and established a reliable body which provides the scientific knowledge that is evidence based to govern how services are provides and how experiments are done to ensure quality of life is maintained. Psychologists face difficulties in an attempt to maintain a balance between personal and professional codes of conduct in their work (Haeny, para 1). The ethical codes are provided to separate the two and allow for an environment for the profession.

Use of the unethical results for citation or publishing is inconclusive because it is difficult to understand the conditions that the subjects went through and the validity of the data collected. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the people involved are respected so as to provide definitive information in any study. There are cases that could be used for example, if the information provided would save lives. But the people ought to be well protected (Steinberg 6).Professor
