The learning environment refers to the conditions required to support the psychological development of an individual's perception. Learning in the current social setting occurs mainly in schools, therefore, the provision of specific factors, such as equity and fairness, help to provide success in the learning process. Schools experience failure in providing a safe environment for learning due to social problems. Differences in the provision of equal opportunities to members of the school community lead to the development of contempt, thus resulting in conflicts. Therefore, disruption of active learning occurs, thus preventing the primary objective of psychological development. This paper will review the social problem of equality in education and analyze the vision of change and goal clarification that contribute to the changes in the learning environment.

The concept of equality in education refers to the need for fair and consistent involvement of members of the school community in the programs conducted within the school. Justice and fairness lead to the equity required to promote the psychological view of circumstances (Schleicher, 2014). However, equality and fairness vary in boosting the psychological perspective. In some incidences, fair opportunities limit the concept of equality as individuals think of the chance suitable to the community, but unfair towards a specific group (Sullivan, 2016). Therefore, the school authority faces a challenge in determining the appropriate approach to promote equality in the development of individuals' psychological development.

The school aims to provide an individual with the knowledge to fit in the society through the conflict perspective. Differences in attitudes result in conflicts when individuals fail to tolerate different reasoning. Therefore, the school provides the students with the knowledge to tolerate variations in the conflict perspective. Sexual orientation affects the school systems the society perceives homosexuality as an aversion, thus segregating the students from families with gay parents. Unfair representation of students from gay families leads to violence from other students, thus promoting the psychological pattern of intolerance towards social differences (Goldscheider, Bernhardt & Lappegard, 2015). Therefore, schools need to ensure that the students learn to respect social and psychological differences among individuals as this helps to promote peace and the development of civilization.

School administrators need to ensure that students from gay families enjoy similar opportunity as the others students from families with parents of a different gender. Government funding for education requires the approval of school administrators. Therefore, the administrator needs information on the student requesting the funds. However, if the administrator scorns the student's family structure due to the cultural perception of the different genders in marriages, the student experiences discrimination. This discrimination occurs in the form of denial of equal opportunities to access government funding. Consequently, the student develops the perception that the society operates unfairly, thus negatively influencing the psychological development (Sullivan, 2016). The student transfers the psychological impact to the society upon completion of the education system by evaluating opportunities based on the perception of fairness towards marginalized groups.

Therefore, the school needs to assess the level of tolerance by suggesting open opinions on the issue of single parenthood. Encouragement of the views occurs through programs such as school debates, art, and poems. The administrator should assess the attitude of the teachers and students to design an approach towards segregation of students from single parenthood families and those supporting equality of other students regardless of the social status (Van Hoorn, Monighan-Nourot, Scales & Alward, 2014). Therefore, the students become enlightened about the significance of social difference and the need for tolerance. As a result, the society benefits from the qualities as the safety of different social approaches by individuals receive support and understanding, thus promoting harmony.

The societal approach to marriage historically relies on the relationship between individuals of different sex and considers the sexual orientation to same-sex relations as abominable. Therefore, individuals tend to discriminate students from families whose parents are of the same sex. The school system provides an opportunity for inequity based on the historical factor, thus affecting the effectiveness of the learning process (Sullivan, 2016). Conflict theorists argue that the failure to conform to the attributes of a specific group leads to the exclusion from the involvement of students in schools. The notion that marriages exist between partners of different sexes among the vast majority tends to inflict discrimination on same-sex partners. Therefore, school administrators and students tend to deny students with same-sex parents the equal opportunity to participate in school activity as those from the usual societal family structure.


Consequently, the school should establish policies that protect the right to equality of students, thus, ensuring that the student enjoys equal opportunities as the rest (Sullivan, 2016). An evaluation of the emphasis on equality and openness to sexual orientation as provided in the national constitution demand that the student recognizes the special groups as usual thus preventing further discrimination. Guidance and counselling for students who perceive equality with other students from same-sex parents' family help to ensure that the knowledge of uniqueness of character and tolerance promotes harmony in the society when perceived on a fair basis. Students should participate in school tribunals and petition the opportunities provided to all students.

Taking everything into account, intervening during the early stages of development for young students provides a viable option to enhance equity in schools. Educating children on the importance of unity helps to develop their perception on the aspect of marriage. Schools need to protect children from same-sex parenthood by ensuring that the school community avoids discrimination and involves the children in school activities. The spread of technology makes the control of content shared difficult (Darling-Hammond, 2015). Therefore, policies formulated to counter the incitement of violence and discrimination against students to ensure that equality and equity in education leads to the development of individuals that fit in the society

However, the implementation of technology control faces the challenge of unclear policies as the extensive coverage finds loopholes to exploit the process of sharing information. Therefore the government should implement policies that ensure that information providers protect the users and the content available for a specific age. The method of educating young children on the significance of equity and equality in education faces the barrier of poor perception. Children may fail to understand the knowledge provided to counter the conflict theory of equity in education due to the observation and guidance from parents, thus resorting to discrimination of same-sex parenthood. Therefore, parents should be encouraged to educate children on respect for others and ensure that discriminative behavior is noted and corrected.
