Introduction
The growth of human beings is made up of various stages. In all the stages, some changes take places to ensure that there is proper growth. The development of human beings mostly begins from the womb after they have been conceived. The major stages that human beings undergo after conception starts with a germinal stage, which occurs a few weeks after conception. The second phase is called the embryonic stage, and the third is the fetal phase. The third period is the final stage before the fetus is born. Over the years, there have been several discussion concerning the life of the fetus. Some people claim that a fetus is a person, while others believe that it is not a person until it has been born. A fetus is a person and it should be accorded the same rights as human beings and abortion would be morally wrong.
Is Fetus a Person?
A fetus is a person as life begins at conception. Therefore, as it develops, it has to be considered as a human being, and all the rights should be respected. The issue of abortion has become controversial concerning the life of a fetus. The fetus does matter to determine whether abortion is morally acceptable or not.
In most cases, when abortion is done, it usually results in the death of the fetus that is still in the womb. Many people believe that abortion is right, and it should be carried out when there is a need, especially if one is not ready for a child. However, abortion is wrong because it leads to the loss of human life. In this case, fetus matter in determining whether abortion is morally right or wrong.
A fetus is a person because it already has a life which began immediately after conception. It would be wrong to do an abortion because it will lead to the loss of life, and it can be termed as murder. Therefore, a fetus should be accorded the same respect as the human and their lives should be preserved.
Article Evaluation
Due to the increasing controversy over the matter, there are several articles which have been written by different authors to air their views regarding the matter. The article, "On the Moral of Legal Status of Abortion" by Mary Anne Warren. The article begins by saying that defining abortion as an act whereby women voluntarily terminate or allows another person to end her pregnancy. The major argument of the article is that a fetus is a human being and that performing an abortion is termed as murder.
According to Warren (2017), the Catholic Church has expressed its opinion concerning the issue of abortion. The views of the Catholic Church says, "It is not right to kill human beings even though they might be weak, poor, defenseless, as well as lack the opportunity to develop their potential." This concept refers to the fetus since they are weak and not in a position to defend themselves. Therefore, it would be morally wrong to end the life of the infants. As much as the article has claimed that it is wrong for abortion to be done, it has supported some cases where it can be done.
One of the cases that has been supported in the article is when a woman gets pregnant after being raped. Rape occurs without the consent of women. Therefore, it would be morally right for her to perform emotion. The other situation whereby abortion is supported by the article is when the life of a woman is at risk.
There are certain cases whereby pregnant women may experience a lot of difficulties. These difficulties may seem a danger to her life (Warren, 2017). In such a case, the woman is permitted to undergo an abortion to save her from any risks that may come along.
The information presented in this article has been successful because it has managed to provide an insight into abortion and the situations where it can be performed. Furthermore, the article is successful because it has explained well that a fetus is a human being all its rights should be protected.
The other issue that has made the article to be a success is that the idea present have been presented clearly. This approach has helped the ideas to be easily understood and ensure that information concerning abortion of the fetus is passed to the audience.
Conclusion
Concluding, it is true that there have been several arguments concerning the life of a fetus. Some people believe that a fetus is a person while other people do not believe so. The life of human beings began immediately after conception. A fetus is the last stage before birth, and this means that it has passed several stages. Therefore, a fetus is a human being because it has life in it. Moreover, it plays an important role in determining whether abortion is morally right or wrong. Since the fetus is a human being, it should be abortion because that would be classified as murder as the life of a person has been terminated. The article provided, "on the moral and legal status of abortion," by Mary Anne Warren argues that abortion is morally wrong because it is not right killing human beings even though they may be a poor, defenseless, weak and lacking opportunity. However, abortion can be done in some cases, such as when the life of a woman is in danger during pregnancy. Abortion will be performed to save the life of the woman. Other cases where abortion can be performed is in the event a woman gets pregnant as a result of rape and not due to her actions.
