Introduction

Lee and Brown had a common as well as a poignant history while being born in a family that demonstrated a lot of unity; the parents showed their children with massive love, security, and a lot of care hence becoming an example in the locality. The family used to do many things together including cooking and other home chores. One evening as the entire family gathered to take their supper at around 10.00 pm, they realized that Lee was not with them. Lee was not the boy who would have a disappearance tendency or the tendency to sleep early. Lee did not consider sleeping as a relaxing experience and liked it when a lot of things closed his mind. As they sat at the table room, hysterical screams filled the house with terror and anger thereby causing a lot of anxiety to everyone who was in. Although Lee was born having an anxiety issue, they would not understand what caused this noise and fear. They all rushed to the room where the noise was coming from only to find Lee lying on the floor looking scared. It is at this point that they realized Lee's anxiety issue was becoming worse and they needed to address the issue promptly.

As a united family as they always were, the parents decided to look for a mental hospital wherever it would be found across the globe. Mr. Jackson (Lee's father) engaged his wife (Mrs. Lynn Jackson) regarding the best approach to help their children and ensure that they remained a united family. However, Mr. Jackson had started becoming skeptical about the management of their home affairs. Although he hoped the best for the family, he was still wondering whether Lee was his real son. There were rumors that Lee was not his son and he, therefore saw the predicaments as a form of punishment to the family. Despite all these challenges, the family had to cope, understand, and offer all the necessary support to Lee before they could get a permanent cure. Austin was equally disturbed by the situation of his brother. His results in school had started to drop drastically in the previous terms as his brother's condition worsened. "Will my brother ever get better?" Lee asked looking quite distressed. "My son, do not worry about your brother, Lee will be fine once we go to the hospital." Mrs. Lynn Jackson responded looking rather unconvinced. Mr. Jackson only moved his face from side to side with dissatisfaction.

The family decided that they would travel through the world to look for effective treatment. However, having lived in the suburb of Nashville most of their lives, the family did not have a lot of funds for very expensive treatments. However, Mr. Jackson (an office messenger), had just gotten promoted at work and was now a supervisor. The work was not very engaging and demanding and could easily be delegated. His salary had also been doubled with additional benefits including allowances which could improve his life significantly. Despite the doubts Mr. Jackson had about Lee being his blood son, he was still a good man who wanted to help and live morally. Therefore, he planned with the wife to go for various hospitals in Germany to look for a doctor who would treat the condition. The search for the cure did not bear results immediately and they had to make a lot of trips to Germany with appointments that were scheduled to facilitate the treatment. Despite the trials, life started to fall apart when they were informed that Lee's condition cannot be completely cured but can only be managed. This led to grief and anxiety in the family. They were extremely concerned for Brown who was the youngest in the family.

"Will my brother ever be okay?" Brown asked for the umpteenth time as he noted the situation was not improving. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson had not hitherto, informed Brown about the medical advice they had received in Germany. This question fell on deaf ears as no one wanted to respond. This was partly due to the psychological problem they thought would affect Brown, and partly because Mr. Jackson was contemplating a DNA test to confirm whether Lee was indeed his child. He contemplated that if Lee was not his biological son, then he would not support his medication and spend all his fortune in the treatment. Besides, he was already putting his job in jeopardy due to many excuses and leaves he took to attend to his son. "My husband, what is wrong with you?" Mrs. Jackson asked while sitting next to him leaning on his shoulder. "Do you know you have not had a meal for a weak now?" She continued looking really disturbed. He stared at her for a couple of minutes without saying before he said calmly, "is Lee our son...I mean is Lee my biological son?" he hesitated.

These words fell on Lynn's ears like a thunderstorm. She kept quiet, looked down, and tears started flowing down her eyes. A million things were crossing her mind and she did not know what to say next. Guilt and confusion engulfed his mind as she realized the secret, she had kept all her life has been known. Having realized the guilt that fell through her wife, Mr. Jackson immediately realized the answer to his question and moved out of the room. He came later at the middle of the night drunk. This was rather strange for a man of God who never tasted alcohol for his entire life. His wife did not know how to handle him. She did not even know how to face him due to the guilt of the lie she lived in. It is at this time she realized the need for honesty for a family love as indicated by Shaw (2018). Mr. Jackson became a drunkard which completely disturbed the peace in the family through his scolds and massive noise throughout. During this period, Lee was getting worse as his medication was even discontinued due to the lack of cooperation between the parents.

Brown's life was becoming complicated each as he realized the importance of family love and care. Since his father became an alcoholic, they could not dine together or even do the other things they were doing together. The events unfolded as a huge challenge and a monumental loss that had a significant impact on the life of Lee and Brown. "What shall we do now?" Brown asked his mother referring to the financial challenge in the family that made Lee's treatment to be discontinued. Brown did not know any other brother and he loved him with all his heart. Hearing this question, tears started flowing down her eyes. Mr. Jackson entered the house at that sober mood. He did not talk to anyone but went straight to his bedroom. After a couple of minutes, he left with his luggage in a small bag. He walked out without goodbye and no one knew where he went to.
