The plot clearly explains exactly the idea of monomyth. Dee has really struggled with life for her to achieve her dream. In every society, it is not expected of a female character to over shine the other male character in the society. To some extent, the novel tried to portray the traditional way of reasoning. For instance, traditionally, female character are known to be their own enemy. This is to say that they believe that they cannot over shine men in the society. To prove this, we reflect the way Dee was threatened by the women who aught to have supported her. They even went ahead and hit her tying her with chains saying that she will make their crew be sued in court. On the other hand, the writer has expressed the modern expectation of an ideal society. This is because the writer paints a female character to be so hard and courageous. At the end of the novel, Dee is seen successful and takes care of her family. The society respects her because of her personality. She doesnt give up easily until she gets what she want. She is being used as an example to others. The journey has been long to her. All the obstacles she has passed through to gain the respect and honor of the clan members were excess, and at long last she made it. The life described by the writer differ from traditional elements. This is because it did not give space for male chauvinism. In stead, it made a female character to shine.
