Introduction
My education practice and philosophy is combined of how I desire to practice teaching and the motivation to be a learner. As a teacher, I am continually learning through student interaction in classrooms hence been a student too. My purpose in developing an educational philosophy is to improve literacy education in creating lessons that embed phonics as a component of writing and reading instruction. Through the development of the philosophy, I came up with two culturally response goals that I will implement next semester. Among them they include:
Flexibility
As a teacher, I will need to be prepared for the multiple roles that I will encounter in the classroom. Among the tasks that I will need to be ready for is to be a teacher, coach, counselor, instructor, mentor, and consultant. I will need to be prepared to transition between these roles at any time in the classroom. As a teacher, I will need to be the provider of information. At any time I will need to be ready to give information at any time I will be required to or asked by the students. I will also be required to be a counselor, as a teacher I will need to be a helper of life situations to the students. I will need to be there for the students to help them cope with life situations. For my primary role as a teacher, flexibility will include enhancing support and learning to all learners. Additionally, my flexibility will consist of technical assistance and student administration when required.
Authenticity
As a teacher authenticity is paramount. Modeling trust and being genuine can help me significantly help me in establishing thriving learning environment in the classroom. I can attain this through admitting to the students when I do not know something, remaining patient at all times and modeling kindness, following through with consequences, giving students chances to solve problems on their own and often smiling and sitting with students to make them feel comfortable around you. I can achieve this by being myself in the classroom by modeling personal values. Through authenticity, I will enable to set a stage in the classroom where there will be participatory experiences to the students in achieving the academic vision. The students will know what they need to learn and enable them to staying on task.
I believe the roles of teachers are so many that it is impossible to list them. However, I think the most important is preparing the students in learning, not only in classrooms but also for the rest of their lives. Learning is not easy; therefore in the next semester, I will use different approaches in ensuring that I deliver to the students' quality education. I believe that students should be taught under certain conditions and ways. In my next semester, I will ensure that I ensure that the classroom is active with every student participation. Besides been a teacher to the students, I will provide that I nature their development and enthusiasm. I will be a mentor to the students by inspiring them by not only enjoying the classes but also love them. In my plan for the next semester, I do pray that my actions and words will inspire the students in valuing other people's lives and help them see all subjects to be holistically of equal importance.
