Introduction

Nursing can contribute to the system of health with alternatives for resolution of needs imposed by the contemporary phenomena, fostering innovation in the attention in the different labor scenarios through the construction of knowledge (Parse, 2015). In this sense, the use of Nursing theories and models allows the approach of theory to practice, thus giving it sustenance by "doing", providing it with a framework to interpret the findings and guide practice, research, education, and management; showing clear ownership in "being" and "knowing." This gives social, professional and scientific relevance to nursing, known as "Nursing Knowledge System Conceptual-Theoretical-Empirical" (CT-E system). It is defined as the service that Nursing provides to society guided by the specific knowledge when articulating with the theories of this discipline, which allows a fluid and competitive interaction with other disciplines. Following the above, this paper exposes the vision of Human becoming Theory, which presents an alternative to guide the Nursing practice, evidencing through the investigations that have been developed with this theory in professional practice (Parse, 2015). This theory has been applied to improving the delivery of healthcare, hence improving the quality of life.

Parse theory of human becoming propose an exercise discipline from a paradigm of simultaneity or transformation, which provides an alternative to the prevailing paradigms: positivist (health as the absence of disease) and integration (health as something biopsyico-social-spiritual). Integral human development must cover all the possibilities of growth; key dimensions have been identified so that, through their development and healthy balance, each person achieves a fuller, fuller and happier life. These dimensions are physical well-being, family and couple, professional development, cultural and educational aspects, social development, emotional well-being, and transcendence. Parse deduced three principles of Man-Living-Health, connected by three concepts of meaning, rhythmicity, and transcendence. Parse model challenges the traditional methods of healthcare by defining the nursing discipline as an exclusive and basic discipline focusing mainly on the human experience (Tapp & Lavoie, 2017). Human development is constituted by these principles derived from three themes: meaning, rhythmic patterns, and transcendence. The principles give a reasonable exploration to understand the depth of human development theory. They include:

Principles of the Theory of Humanbecoming

Principle 1: Structuring Meanings

The principle aims at answering the question of how human beings structure the sign of their reality. The answer is divided into two: projection of the image and the value of language. The meanings are a personal reality that is continually structured and is different in the past and the present, which affects in the future. The human being does not co-create reality through connection with people, technology and with various art forms (Olney, 2017). It is how the human being lives his reality. Acceptance in a group is fundamental and the opinion emitted by the peers becomes indispensable, which affects the forms of communication. It is, therefore, necessary to know how the users structure the meaning of their reality because this is what gives them the purpose of life and the possibility of exploring alternatives for change. Therefore, it is required to understand some concepts such as; image, valuation, and language, with their respective paradoxes; since together they are the ones that form the structure of the meaning.

Principle 2: Setting Rhythmic Patterns

It refers to the paradoxes of human experiences. Its function is to invite reflection. Paradoxical rhythms are revelation-concealment, allow-limit and connection-separation. Revelation-concealment is linked to the unmasking-masking paradox. People will always have more to say and know about themselves selves and others. Allow-limit is linked to empower-restrict paradox. This is about opening and closing doors when making choices in life. When a door opens others close and vice versa (Olney, 2017). Connection-separation is linked to the attention-distance paradox. This is the process of moving in one direction and moving away from others. It provides ways in which people create guidelines for connecting and separating from people, projects or situations.

Principle 3. Co-Transcendence

This principle about mobilizing beyond, with the possibilities that arise, which allows to co-create with others and the universe. Mobilizing beyond means daring to make decisions among countless possibilities and those decisions involve changes in life. This happens because the human being is not static, he is always in a process of evolution, so the possibilities of change are presented daily. They are the infinite ways that exist to be and evolve within situations (Tapp, Lavoie, & Vonarx, 2016). When chosen, the possibilities are updated and new ones emerge, from which one chooses again.

Meta-Paradigms in the Parse TheoryCare or Nursing

Nursing was defined in something metaphorical assimilated to the image of motherhood that is characterized by actions such as nurturing, caring, comforting, comforting and other maternal forms of behavior that influence the image of the nurse in the way they act and think as well as the way in which society perceives and deduces what nursing behavior should be (Parse, 2015). Nursing takes on dimensions of science, a definition that has been analyzed from the philosophical and professional sociological aspect. Nursing does not treat diseases, but the problems that they keep the person or the family uncomfortable because of a health situation such as the limitations of the capacities to take care of themselves, the pains, the problems related to the vital processes or the development.

Nursing

Parse believes that nursing is basic science and that nurses need theories that are different from other disciplines. Considers that nursing is an exclusive service for humanity, this does not mean that nurses do not use or benefit from the knowledge of other disciplines and fields of study insisting that Nursing is a science whose practice is an interpretive art (Parse, 1993). Nursing is in real presence with the individual, while the individual describes the personal meaning of the situation and makes choices to move towards the current moment with the hopes and dreams that he most appreciates. The center is in the meaning of the experience lived by the person discovering it with the presence of the nurse.

Health

Hippocrates pointed out that: Health depended on a life in harmony with natural forces, and health is much more than the absence of disease, when it is healthy, all body systems and functions are in balance harmonious and mutually integrated and we are also in balance the defense mechanism and the immune system can efficiently handle most of the dangers that life offers. Health for the nursing staff is the harmonic balance I have given each other with the biological, social, psychological, and environmental, that is to say, something more than the absence of disease.

Human Universe, Development and Health

Parse interprets the concepts man, universe and health as inseparable and irreducible. To parse the health is the human development, the health structures the meaning, the configuration of the rhythmic patterns of the relations and the co-transcendence with the possible thing, Parse speaks of the health as a personal commitment, which means that the way to evolve of a human being is created by that individual, embodying his own values priorities. According to Parse (2015), health is a fluid process, a personal creation, and personal responsibility. Personal health can be altered when the commitment changes, which includes a creative imagination, the affirmation of oneself and a spontaneous glimpse of the paradoxical.

Environment

The environment is the set of all conditions, circumstances, and influences that surround and affect the development and behavior of people and groups. Human beings depend on the environment that surrounds them to meet their health and survival needs, so it is thought that the person has a structural relationship with their environment. The terms health, environment, and person will always be united, say because they will be seen from a holistic point of view.

Strengths of Parse Theory of Human Becoming

In professional practice, the theory has been significant within the nursing community since it has been of great influence on human development since the practice of information and research. The theory informs and guides the concerned personnel in the healthcare sector. The theory has also helped to generate controversy and dialogue about nursing as an evolving discipline and different human science. The theory has been lived by nurses in different fields of work and community settings.

Parse's school of human development thinking has been resourceful to many discourses and comparisons on the results in practice, education and clinical research, has created models that have been used in various ways with students, teachers and in practice that have contributed to the understanding of new education and learning processes.

Human development theory has been the key to many research processes and generating new knowledge in different parts of the world, about their life practices. The research results can give guidance on thinking in any future study.

Weaknesses of the Theory

The results of the theory cannot be quantified and this makes it difficult to compare them with any other research. This is because the theory does not have a research question or study groups. Also, it does not conform to the nursing process which suggests that each individual has a distinct lifestyle. It is therefore difficult for nurses to apply it while dealing with emerging issues in healthcare.

Conceptual Model

The inductive-deductive process is fundamental for the creation of the theory of human development, which are fundamental and main components of human development from the science of unitary human beings and existential-phenomenological thinking (Parse, 1993). The conceptual model covers the main Meta paradigm concepts which are human beings, health, nursing, and the environment. These concepts are central to their meaning in nursing. The conceptual model is critical as it offers different approaches to the challenges in nursing through the application of critical thinking.

Conclusion

The theory is significant as it overlaps with several paradigms of nursing. For instance, it offers guidelines on healthcare and efficient administration, making it even useful in education and future research in nursing. Human becoming thinking has as its main reason the human being in direct interrelation with the environment, quality of life and health. Nursing manages to define its action in professional practice when it manages to answer questions and discover meaning about the human experiences of health and quality of life of the users.
