Introduction

Pablo Picasso is widely reckoned for being one of the most famous and prolific artists during the 20th century. He is indeed remembered about his unique style of painting, famously referred to as the Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. Through his style of painting and artistic techniques, Pablo becomes quite influential in the creation of the Cubist movement, which had an impact of revolutionising the entire concept of art. Based on the image below, his Les Demoiselles D'Avignon style of painting was a proto-Cubist work, whose initiation was to reject the traditional ideas based on proportion and perspective favour of geometrical lines whose impression was to represent a particular form of emotions and feeling, other than the actual reality. The image below is one of the artworks of Pablo Picasso in the year 1907.

The person drawn in the picture above appears to be relaxed and to have less or no thoughts of depression. His eyes are wide open, and his nose too. This is an indication that he is very much aware of what is happening within his immediate surroundings, and he has the right control measures to impact on his moods and feelings. It is also clear that the person in the picture is a man, due to the presence of beards on his chins and cheeks. The man has not shaved his beards and thus appears to be untidy, thus exposing out the fact that he has no much time to invest on his outward appearance, but more concerned on his peace and tranquillity. The artist made use of light-grey, dark-grey, and the blue colour as the major colours on his drawing to achieve his set intentions. Moreover, the drawing appears to be in the form of a three-dimension structure hence allowing more characteristics to be shown out.

Besides, the man in the image above has his mouth shut but his ears wide open. This implies that he ready to listen more than he has to speak, hence showing out his extent of intelligence. And understanding. In connection to that, his eyes are wide open to suggestions that he is ready to see what the world has to offer since it has much more than what we can only see within the immediate environment but to have to cross towards the horizons of the world to discover new ideas. His nose is also wide open as an indication that there exists plenty of good-smelling ideologies that the world can offer within his immediate environment. Moreover, the man above appears to be contented with his immediate situation. His great satisfaction is due to the several factors that are within his environment.

The above image is an actual representation of a person free from emotions and stress. To achieve all that, the artist Pablo made use of colour light-grey while painting the image's part of the body, and dark-grey to indicate the hairy parts. The use of colour grey then had a meaning of showing traits of coolness, emotionless, and more of a moody person. Like it is in the image above, the person seems to have no emotions of empathy or in other words, appears to be stress-free. Moreover, based on the colour grey as it is, the person above appears not to be neat enough, and hence shows traits of being dull, dirty, and dingy. The impression brought about by such an image is of a person who is formal, sophisticated and conservative at the same time.

On the other hand, the image is also made up of the blue colour painting, whose importance is not possible to assume. Since the person in the picture is drawn in such a way to espouse the naked truth about the human nature, it is possible to have a significant association with the choice of the colours used in the painting. The impact of the blue colour is that it brings the mind into a calming effect, and thus it may at times simplify tranquillity and healing.

What made me chose the picture above is because of its historical divergence and the creative drawings of a rich combination of simple colours to bring out the intended meaning. Precisely, the image above marks the beginning of the cubism period, which encouraged the use of three-dimensional drawings and paintings, besides its remarkable effect to bring out real traits of a normal human being. It is, therefore, one of the historical moments of changes in the art and design field, which marked the beginning of the cubism period.
