Being a generally happy person, I will try to figure out what it is that makes me that way. I guess happiness is not a permanent state that starts after a certain event and lasts until something else spoils it. Instead, it is a collection of tiny bright moments, sparkling conversations, warms smiles and days to remember. Well, there is a thing that is really weird when it comes to happiness. This is having a crush on somebody. On the one hand, it makes you euphoric and feel out of this world. You are inspired and your eyes radiate light and magic charm (as long as your crush is not around). The first few weeks you feel much happier and more alive than ever despite the fact that you hardly have any sleep or anything to eat. Your productivity at work leaves much to be desired too. On the other hand, some time later, it doesnt make you that happy anymore: the lack of sleep manifests in extreme fatigue, low energy level and general state of being fed-up with crushing. Unfortunately enough, it s not something that can be switched off. It prevents you from doing anything other than mindlessly thinking about your crush, over-playing meaningless dialogues you have had with them hundreds of times. The fact that you managed to get your crush smile at least once makes your day and you cannot stop thinking about it for hours in a row while being almost deaf and dumb to whatever is happening around you. This is extremely exhausting and at this stage does not make me happy at all. All I dream about is the way to stop this madness and be able to be myself again, the person whose knees do not get week whenever that person comes into the room. I think it would make me much happier if humans evolved to have a feature to be able to crush without all of those side effects.

Week 1. Entry 2. What would make other people happy?

I have a very vague image of what other people might want. Their souls have always been a mystery to me. However, having some experience of interacting with them gives me a few clues about what could make them happy. First of all, most people like being asked questions about themselves. Personally, I find it extremely uncomfortable when I have to talk about myself but, to my surprise, other people seem to enjoy that a lot. Therefore, I make both myself and the person I am talking to quite content by asking them endless questions about their life. And the really great thing about it is that I do not even have to pretend that I am interested because I genuinely am. Another thing I noticed is that the majority of really interesting people like to feel better than others in some even minor life situations. Thus, theres nothing easier than pleasing another person simply challenge them and be happy for them when they manage to overcome it. One more thing is obvious and has probably been listed in all kinds of textbooks of how to successfully interact with people. No matter how trivial this mind sound, smiling does make a huge difference, relaxes shy people and makes them feel welcome and wanted. And finally and surprisingly enough, making other people happy is something that makes me feel on the top of the world as well!

Week 2. Entry 1. How do I want my body to be?

I guess the question of what I want my body to look like is not as relevant as the question of how I feel about it. The most important thing is to accept your body as it is and let yourself be who you are. However, I do not mean eating tons of carbohydrates and getting overweight because this is just not who I am. I enjoy letting my body feel great so I try to give it the gift of enough exercising. It is amazing how great simple exercises are for your body and it is really exciting to see how it transforms to thank you for the effort. I certainly do not think that I am the handsomest human on the Earth but I definitely think it is a must to learn to love the way you look. If there is something you can do about your body weight, there is practically nothing you can do about how your eyes or mouth look like. Therefore, accept them and be happy with them. Our body is a precious gift from God, it enables us to do lots of wonderful things like walking, seeing, kissing, tasting a fragrant banana, etc. We have to be thankful and pay homage to our body by giving it enough rest, healthy food and plenty of exercising for it to stay toned and functional as long as possible.

Week 2. Entry 2. How can creativity be cultivated?

Creativity is an essential and indispensable part of being human. No other living species have art or do anything to please their soul. Therefore, being creative and find new meanings in ordinary things seems to be one of the ways to live a fulfilling life.

One of the great ways to boost ones creativity is to give new life to old stuff we all have at home. This trend is called junk art and a lot of people enjoy it both for the benefit of their creative skills and the environment. All of us have mountains of possessions that we no longer use and will never use again. You could give most of them away or just throw out. However, there is one more way to dispose of them in a creative way. For instance, your old sweater could be transformed into a stylish pillow case and last years magazines can become an amazing vintage shelf or even a table. I believe that trying to find a way to give new life to useless junk enhances your out-of-the-box thinking and generally stimulates your brain.

Another way to cultivate creativity would be doing routine things in a different way. For a start, you could take a different way to go home or to work. You could also try cooking something different for instance, you could choose a cuisine of the country situated thousands of kilometers from where you live. The thing that works for me is having a conversation with interesting people. Such people are capable of inciting a great curiosity to the things I did not use to pay much attention to like, the reasons for dinosaur extinction, space exploration or even fashion! Being inspired, I can spend hours reading and thinking about this new thing, which ultimately makes me smarter and more creative.

Week 2. Entry 3. How do I want my intimate relationship to be?

The first and foremost requirement for an intimate relationship is undoubtedly having it with somebody you are crazy about. Finding a soul mate the person who seems to be a slightly different version of you is prerequisite for any relationship. Back in high school I fell in love with my English teacher she was just so intriguing and intelligent. Despite the fact that she was married with a kid, I still imagined how it would be like to be with her. I used to do all kinds of homework and participated in class as much as possible in order to get her attention. I stalked her on social media and desperately tried to impress her. My face, ears and even neck would flush whenever she entered the room and I would stare at her like crazy. Sometimes I would sit closer to her desk to be able to see her but that made me suffer from nervousness so painfully that next time I chose the desk situated in the most remote corner to be safe from her unbearable closeness.

Blinded by this affection, it seemed like we would be perfect together. Ha-ha! I must have gotten this idea from the fact that we had the same type of coat and liked vintage things. She must have noticed my attitude because she sometimes seemed nervous around me too. I never acted on my feelings for obvious reasons; this overwhelming feeling was enough, although it made me equally happy and miserable. I had been crushing on her until the course was over and I stopped seeing her. I guess such extreme feelings are only possible when the object of your affection is unavailable.

Week 2. Entry 4. What would be a fulfilling way to make your living?

I think a fulfilling way to make ones living would be to transform your hobby into a job. For example, if I could do something with my hands, I could make a lot of it and sell. Or I could go on tours and perform on front of huge audiences if I could play the guitar and sing beautifully. However, I cannot do any of those things and my childhood hobbies do not seem highly profitable.

When I was about 7 or 8 I suddenly developed a wild affection for snails. I brought a couple of them from a nearby river and put them into a small tank that I made in a glass bottle. I fed them with bread and pieces of grass from the playground in front of my house and I watched them for hours. They were these tiny reddish creatures with pointed shells. They bred incredibly fast and you do not even need individuals of different sexes because, as I read in my book about snails, they are hermaphrodites. So very soon the walls of my primitive small tank were covered with their transparent eggs that later hatched and the tank became too small for the large number of snails I had. I was thrilled and talked about it to everybody on the playground. And I made a new friend because of my snails! One of the girls on the playground, Karina, was so curious to see my wonderful pets that I invited her round and we became best friends forever! We would spend days in front of our tanks watching these amazing creatures and talking about them endlessly. I do not really remember what happened to those snails afterwards but Karina and I remained friends and had a lot of other common hobbies. I think such passion for what you are doing is an indispensible component for the success of whatever you are doing to make your living. That way it is both enjoyable and rewarding.

Week 2. Entry 5. What would be a wise way to get and eat food?

Honestly, I have quite mixed feelings when it comes to food. On the one hand, I often get the mood to simplify the process of getting and cooking it so as not to spend much time on such a trivial activity. I can imagine how cool it would be like if the food came in small tubes that astronauts used to eat from while in space. So if you get hungry, just squeeze some nutritious jelly into your mouth from a tube with Bacon and eggs written on it and you are done. That way we would not need any lunch breaks and buffet cashiers would certainly lose their jobs and find a much more fulfilling way to earn their living. Anyway, discussing the life of buffet cashiers is definitely not something I wanted to write about in this entry. What I did want to say is that there is a different side to this medal. Eliminating the culture of making effort to cook delicious food and finding time to eat it with people you like would make our world a sad place. This is because cooking is not only about eating to survive. Cooking can be regarded as art. Combining unusual ingredients to create whole new flavors is like mixing palette colors to render a specific shade of the sky on a painting of the sunset performed by an inspired artist. Therefore, I think cooking and eating traditions are things that are not going anywhere anytime soon. They are indispensible parts of human culture and I definitely enjoy that and would prefer them to remain as they are.
