Introduction
From my early years, I have always been fascinated by the idea of workings of life. I have noted that the human body works like a remarkable machine that has diverse systems that work uniquely. Hence, the reason for choosing science and especially medical science is due to my love and passion for understanding and saving lives. I have always enjoyed a challenge, especially towards a rewarding objective through a career in medicine. Although medicine is a challenging career, my engagement with different doctors and medical professionals at a personal level revealed medicine as an enormously gratifying career that I always enjoy to contribute to the continuity of life.
To further my insight into the medical field, I have participated in various academic programs. As a young doctor, I had to leave my family, friends, relatives, and the loved ones who I shared childhood memories with to expand my medical knowledge at the McMaster institution in Canada. At the institution, I learned more about the principles as well as the importance of evidence-based medicine. Additionally, I learned about conservations of serious illness as well as the basis for POCUS and its clinical applications, among other fundamental skills of critical patient care. I participated in inpatient care at the Juravinski hospital, where I had a chance of participating in various self-fulfilling activities. For example, I was able to facilitate one of the patients to have a trial of extubation before proceeding to the tracheostomy through a multidisciplinary collaboration, which was a success.
I have been looking forward to a career in critical care medicine, where I can use my skills and knowledge to perform live-saving procedures for patients at their most vulnerable states. Chemistry and Biology have helped me to further my interest and be able to develop my analytical skills, while math helps me in logical analysis and problem-solving skills, while ICT gives me a valuable insight within this rapidly important technological world where the use of computers is critical especially in critical medical care for patients in ICU. I have helped students understand the basic airway management skills using the simulation skills. Having assessed the medical subspecialties, I realized that all those specialties are close to my heart and particularly acute medicine. I know I can cope well with stress to enjoy new challenges, and I have the spirit to work in the ICU where I can closely monitor emergencies and do more critical care conditions.
I had to leave Saudi where I was a member of the Saudi board of internal medicine and I decided to take a new start regarding training which is an opportunity to expand my knowledge and gain the tremendous skills. I have visited other great Canadian centers for electives, where it was a pleasure to work with esteemed intensivists from different backgrounds and exchange knowledge of different medical systems. Besides my medical experiences and passions, I have enjoyed the spectacular beauty of Canada. I have been fascinated by skating on the phenomenal Rideau Canal to biking around the splendor of the Rocky Mountains.
Through this fellowship, I will have an opportunity to educate through conferences as well as practices in both Canada and Saudi Arabia. I will be an absolute honor taking part in the fellowship program at your institution as it will help me to further my professional and personal goals in critical care medicine. Through my life experiences, I have realized that I have the resilience, self-determination, compassion, and mental strength to be successful in this career. Therefore, I firmly believe that the training I will receive in your program will be a significant opportunity to further my dream.
