Internet application in the household has seen tremendous growth over the last decade. Currently, the majority of families are using the internet to access information and essential services at any time and any place (Bernstein 9). Most household users are "telecommuters" which means they prefer to work away from the office or online while at their houses. All this has been made possible through home internet solutions such as AT&T, and Verizon at cheap monthly subscriptions. Broadband internet access in households has even boosted them further since it has higher speed during browsing and performing activities hence faster access to required information (Bernstein 9). For example, in the EU, 72% of households have access to broadband at home, an upsurge of 10% compared to 2010.

The Internet has enabled online shopping of household goods such as dry foods, utensils, and beddings through websites like homeshop18.com, ebay.com, and flipkart.com at cheaper and convenient way. The traditional way of going to purchase items in the stores is outdated. The Internet has also revolutionized the interior design/ furnishing of houses since new building materials can be accessed online conveniently and at cheaper prices (Halper 24). Internet application in the household has provided better ways of communicating with other family members abroad through facetime, messenger and other social media sites.

The internet has drastically changed how people work, for instance, firms and companies use the internet to design their marketing strategies (Montgomery 12). As compared to the past, marketing used to be operated in specific geographical areas, unlike the contemporary society where customers can access goods from any place in the world. Companies use the internet to advertise their goods and services, do promotions, sales, and even public relations. Internet marketing brings products closer to customers for the fact that it utilizes many forms. In the process, it creates employment since people can now create websites and blogs, which are used to drive traffic with the focus of targeting the market. People are working online through personal representations of different firm's products and services.

Consequently, firms use the internet to fetch ideas for their development projects, which involves developing the image of companies and the brands they are offering. For example, in the traditions era, when the company wanted the community to know the brands and services it offered, it showcased its services in areas in the community in order to create public relations. This has now changed since the focuses are on social media and online platforms which are enabled by the internet (Montgomery 23). Today, websites are used as the frontlines, which are designed by a few people who have knowledge about technology. Since people are informed, they login into company websites by using the internet to find the information they need. In contemporary society, people value the importance of their time. Nearly everything is done by computers hence implying the enormous use of the internet.

The internet is also used in both Android and iPhone devices hence making communication easy in the workplace, home, and in school (Hanson 8). For instance, in the workplace, people can interact in their social networking sites, chat apps, among others, which are enabled by the internet. It has made communication between employees and even their bosses simpler and easier. At the same time, management has been fastened since their unity and people can collaborate. With the emergence of the internet, managers do not need to be practically present at the workplace every time. They can engage with the employees through office video conferences or chats. The internet is making the world smarter because even at home people use online platforms to communicate and interact. It is through communication that people get access to important information and daily updates of how the world is changing. Those who utilize technology are knowledgeable and are able to get new opportunities.

Internet application has also enabled most users to access lifestyle trends ranging from the fashion industry, sports, gym and fitness, and how to eat healthily. The fashion industry has seen technological growth as the users can access their latest trendy clothes, shoes, and baby apparel for their own use or commercialization (Halper 12). Some of the best clothing shopping sites include Boohoo, Lululemon, and Forever 21. The sporting industry has also seen tremendous growth especially for online companies selling gym fittings and equipment's and sportswear as most customers prefer to stay healthy and fit. The presence of tracking application such as Suunto, Polar, and Strava devices are the best examples of how the sportswear industry is using the internet to offer more services to sports lovers.

There are several technological devices which might be useful for those who want to remain healthy, and fit. For instance, the presence of smart sensors located in most shirts "Hexoskin" could help to track the heart-rate or body temperature of users (Halper 19). Those located in the socks could help assess the steps, calories consumed and burned to ensure most users especially the elderly monitor their health and performance. Through the access of broadband more athletic users can use fitness and access personal training sessions through the mobile video apps at their homes or fitness center. Some of these video apps include; Step trackers and Fitmo. Technology has brought new fitness machines such as "peloton home bikes which offer home treadmills options, and "Smart Home Elliptical Machines" features streaming workouts. Internet application has enabled most people to get nutrition tips/ sessions for them to be able to stay healthy and fit from nutrition-related diseases such as diabetes, and obesity.

Internet application in the entertainment sector has revamped in terms of content creators becoming closer to the audience than in traditional times. It is now possible for users to view subscribe and watch their favorite program from the celebrities they like and also, they can be able to create their own YouTube channel, create more traffic (users) who will subscribe their channels and make money. It is innovation from the traditional ways where there was no chance of making money through social media sites (Halper 12). Movie lovers can access their favorite and on-demand series and movies on sites such as Netflix at cheap monthly subscriptions, and conveniently.

It has become a great source of entertainment worldwide, as people can watch documentaries, play games through Xbox, and PlayStation with the internet being available. It has been able to deliver better gaming experience to users, making gaming devices smarter, increasing the graphics or virtual reality hence bringing refined entertainment to most game lovers (Bernstein 9). The mainstream media as a facet in the entertainment has also seen tremendous growth where the users can access their preferred political, documentaries, trendy economic talk shows through sites like the BBC, CNN, etc. Internet usage in the entertainment sector has contributed to significant growth in the number of "video-on-demand" services and customers have more control over what they watch, while the content creators can avail unique information required by the audience who utilize technology are knowledgeable and are able to get new opportunities.

Most people are using the internet to study, for instance, students use the internet for research purposes and learning. It has changed the study process since they use less time to access study resources via devices that are connected to the internet. They require less effort but fasten their work to the extent that the internet enables the sharing of information and access to various resources. Through the help of different search websites like Google, students can access eBooks, educational videos, and articles which help them in class discussions and assignments (Halper 12). Moreover, like in higher educational institutions, students in the final year are required to complete their projects using different resources. They, therefore, have to use different internet resources to further their studies.

Access to the internet at the same time enables students to study while at home. Students in distance learning, therefore, incorporate the internet in the study through the advancement of information communication technology. Google, for instance, covers entirely most of the research conducted by students in Universities and Colleges since it has unique items that are rich in academic resources (Bernstein 44). Nonetheless, training is also done online regarding different course and projects that are academically oriented. Use of internet in studying improves the performance of students and at the same time fosters performance. The internet has changed people's perceptions of education since it is broad and multi-purpose to complete various assignments within a short time. The internet has changed the way students study for the fact that there are no emotional or personal feelings attached as compared to a lecturer that involved one on one engagement (Bernstein 14). Both these relationships that are created in education are as a result of the emergent of the internet. For the fact that there is no personal attachment with the instructors, the internet has improved communication hence making it probable for students to interact online with their instructors rather than relying on the resources that may not be fully understood.
