Therefore, the school nurses help to manage the underlying health problems among the students by promoting the health and safety needs where possible. They also intervene and handle any health issues that face the students. More importantly, these nurses collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance the health well-being of both the students and in the family set up (Cruden, Kelleher, Kellam & Brown, 2016). This is done through self-advocacy and teaching programs. In this case, school nurses help in assisting the students across the Richmond area with the aim of enhancing their optimal wellness that enhances their willingness and readiness to learn and also strengthening the school attendance rate. Furthermore, the school nurses ensure that all the students attending school are sufficiently immunization and are also free from any communicable diseases that may disrupt the learning programs. As a result, it provides continuity of the regular learning programs as students are safe from all the health sinuses not only in school but also at home and among the community.

Nevertheless, it is evident that not all of the schools in the Richmond area have a school nurse. In this case, there is a lack of enough skilled nurses deployed in every school which has lefts schools sharing a single nurse. For this reason, these nurses are left to work under pressure since most of the students depend heavily on the school nurses to attend to their medical needs ("Richmond Public Schools Health Services," 2018). This is majorly common with the students that are financially disadvantaged such that they come from poor families especially those who are either immigrants or the parents are immigrants. These students have minimal chances of accessing the appropriate medical attention in the best facilities since most of them do not qualify for the Medicaid and the affordable care act (ACA) programs. For this reason, these students depend on the school nurses in attending these medical needs. Besides, each of the students is obliged to pay medical fees to facilitate the well-being of their medical issues at their stay in the school. It is presented a case of a Mary Scott, a parent in one of the schools in Richmond area who realized that her son's pre-school learning center usually shares a nurse with elementary schools (Hipolot, 2018).

Conclusion

However, it was noted that as per the state laws, schools are not bound to deploy a nurse in each of the schools but they can share these nurses. Nonetheless, there are clinical assistants in each of the schools. Following this challenge, the local government within the Richmond district is establishing strategies that can help to recruit and deploy sufficient school nurses across the district which is necessitated by providing extra funds for acquiring more skilled professionals.
