Introduction
Have you ever questioned the temperature varying where the summers become hotter whereas the winter has become colder? This is a description of global warming where there is an increase in the temperature within the worldwide atmosphere due to greenhouse gases. The gases receive and store the heat from the earth's atmosphere. The gases are a combination of nitrogen oxide, methane, carbon dioxide and water which have an effect where the vapor insulate the earth's surface making the earth's temperature to increase (Karl & Trenberth, 2003). Most of the gases emissions have been accounted for by human activities such as untreated industrial waste that is released to the environment. This limits the atmosphere's ability to emit the excess heat from the sun, therefore making the atmosphere have uncontrollable heat.
The issue of global warming has had a different approach and views from people and organizations. Global warming has contributed to the disruption of the weather patterns, therefore, causing ocean warming and extreme weathers. This is because of the interference with the water cycle causing droughts, wildfires, floods, and hurricanes (Ryghaug & Skjolsvold, 2010).
Global warming has resulted in land desertification as a result of the extremely harsh weather. As a result, this has caused a direct effect on agricultural activities as the lands have become drier. The impact on farming practices such as animal and food production has led to food shortages. Similarly, this has affected economic wise to the farmers and business people (Kellstedt Zahran & Vedlitz, 2008).
Global warming also affects the environment by creating nature imbalances in some ways. It is changing the natural habitat of some animals which is stressing their ecosystems (Leemans, 1990). Since temperature is the central aspect of the ecosystem, some plants and animals are unable to withstand the changes therefore slowly going to extinction.
On the other hand, global warming is beneficial as it is responsible for some places in the world having more plant growth and milder climates. Some regions across the globe such as Siberia, Arctic, and the Antarctic which are typically frozen may experience better weather as a result of global warming (Wenzel, Larsen, Clauson-Kaas, Hoibye & Jacobsen, 2008).
Conclusion
Global warming is an issue that attracts a lot of controversy with a split of ideas. However, global warming is still a challenge that needs to be addressed o protect the environment and the weather patterns. (Whitmarsh, 2009). This necessitates the reason to take care of the future by reducing the risky activities that contribute to global warming.
