Birth of a Nation, Re-Occurring Themes

In the birth of the film of a nation by Nate Parker, Rebirth of a nation by D.J Spooky and Birth of a nation by D.W Griffith, we can identify how the theme of racism and slavery are reoccurring in this movies. Nat Parker in his film takes a set in the southern part, who acts as a preacher. In the film, Nat Parker uses preaching to suppress white rule over slaves who are held in bondage for southern plantations for profits. In this setting can see how a white minority exercises authority and ownership over the blacks. Nate Parker being the preacher and also a slave chooses to preach as a strategy to lead oppression as he had grown weary of white atrocities owning southerners.

The birth of a nation by D.W Griffith, also present the same concepts of slavery and white supremacy. In this film, the author and producer have brought two aspects of rape and race in the movie. The movie further displays racism in a halcyon light that views black only good for labour (Brody,1). Also set in the southern part of Carolina, the movie exhibits. Through intermarriages, the whites were able to coerce their women to have sex. The film depicted that if the blacks were denied the chance to vote, divide and subordinate them, they would engage in less oppression that proved to be the best way to restore peace to the south (Brody,1). Such instances exhibit theme of racism. Rebirth of a nation by D.J Spooky extends the birth of a national story and exemplifies the over racist act of America to the 21st century. All the three authors of the movie depict a high level of racism and slavery of America in the reconstruction.
