Introduction

Every student, when taken to school, has the hope that they will learn new skills, which will be useful in the future. This is the case for every student in a writing course. A writing course instills creativity, confidence, consolidates and transfers essential communication skills from one occasion to another. Proper structures will enable the students to communicate effectively the skills learned in his or her future assignments in communication aspects.

I agree with one of the articles "we are not teaching composition all wrong" by Emily Stewart. She asserts that by experimenting on the students work rather than being rigid and the approaches used while commenting on students work will provide excellent results. I am persuaded to agree with the argument because most of the students will overwhelmingly fail due to focusing on testing rather than the learning process. Learning is a continuous process and once we put more effort then will are sure of getting better and improved results.

While there are various ways to improve writing, there is the most common in regular practices. That consistent and regular practice makes perfect, Joseph Keller is of the view that, the use of revision, daily exercise and use of drafts without grading them has not been effective in improving the quality of work done by the students. I disagree with this argument.

Am persuaded by Emily Stewart's view that students need to write continually, whether they receive feedback on the drafts or not. By exposing the students to low-risk writing, on a regular basis, builds on the confidence of the student and gives the students the ability to experiment on various techniques without worrying about failures. Daveena Tauber also adds that rewarding on serious efforts and hard work acts as a motivation to improve on the quality of writing for the students.

By laying out a strong foundation for success, the element of focusing on the ingredients to facilitate a process to get the right result on the product should also get implemented. While the teachers concentrate on coaching, offering guidelines, strategies, providing encouragement and acting as critiques where necessary is also very important to the students.

When Joseph Teller says that students cannot write a sentence to save their lives and that he has had it, I disagree with him because those students are there to learn from him. The reason they cannot save themselves is that they have not gotten taught how to. Therefore, when given a chance and the right tools I believe they can protect themselves.

I agree with Emily Stewart who accepts that it is the work of the teachers to change the student and how they write. This change is from a bad writer to a good writer. She goes on to say that if all the students are consistently failing at something being taught to them by the teacher, then it is not their fault but the teacher.

I agree with Emily Stewart who accepts that it is the work of the teacher to change the student. This change is from a bad writer to a good writer. She says that if all the students are consistently failing at something being taught by the, then it is their fault but the teachers. I believe that if students are trained well and given the freedom to learn. Then these students cannot fail every time.

Tellers argues that the three pillars of composition do not work. He says that the learning of composition writing focuses mostly on the process and not the product. I will disagree with

Keller on this. It is imperative for the process to get followed for better results. Students need to learn that the process is as important the product. When students understand the importance of the process, they are going to produce better products concerning writing.

The writing process involves students to revise their work. Emily believes that given the right time and tools students to change their practice. I agree with her on this. Time is significant in writing and when students get enough time to do their job they do it right. Although time has to get limited for each paper with enough time a student will revise their work. This is where the teacher will come in to offer supervision and help. When enough time get given to students, then the results of the revision will be better.

Peer workshops are another essential element in composition and essay writing. Teller believes that it's a waste of class time when students go for workshops. He thinks that the teacher should be the one to criticize the student's work. He argues that it is time-consuming and that students to do not listen to the advice of the other students. I disagree with him on this. I believe that workshops build the confidence of the students. These workshops also help students to be able to read their writings, and that is very important for the writing skills of any student.

It is essential for students to be always encouraged to be writing. When they do this, they improve their writing skills and produce better results. Emily believes that there are no bad writers. She says that all students need is practice. By doing these students will better their writing skills since they will have known their weak points. As the saying says, practice makes things better. Students also need to relieve their fears of writing. These fears can only be gotten rid by writing more because it builds more confidence in the student to write more.

Teachers should also be involved in the whole process and should even get feedback from their students. It is vital that the teachers and students be on the same page. Emily says that she usually asks her students which assignments did not work for and which did. I believe this is fundamental to help teachers also improve their teaching skills. This way everyone is assured of better results concerning writing and even in teaching.

Teachers may not be able to save the world by teaching compositions. But through teaching well and having good relationships with students, then they can make it a little better. Students should feel that their professors or teachers are there for them. It encourages students to find their voices in society.

Conclusion

Daveena Tauber says that a lot of research has been done to ascertain the proper and useful tools to be used in teaching composition. He argues that all the people doing those researches would not have all been wrong. It is the reason why Daveena Tauber cannot allow Joseph Keller to say that composition writing gets taught all wrong. He concludes by saying that it is wrong for Keller to generalize that composition being taught wrong while there is much research agreeing that.
