The similarities that exist between high school and colleges is that both have teachers or facilitators, classrooms, and students who are to be taught. On the other hand, some differences exist between high school and college. For instance high school population is of not more than 30 students per stream, teachers plans schedules that ate favorable for the learners, the year of the school is 26 weeks, and it takes a whole year before the students are given credits also grades are given at times based on assignments done in classrooms while in college the population of one course is between 75 to 100 students. It is the responsibility of the learner to enroll in the necessary classes .the calendar for colleges is usually divided into 14 weeks semesters, there is a need to take whole semester before being credited. Their professors grade college students according to their performance in major papers and tests done by students.

The other difference between high school and college is on the responsibility that the students are given. A high school student has lesser responsibility compared to a college student, for a senior scholar he or she is provided with reading materials for every course and class. Teachers and parents structure time for a high scholar. The teachers prepare timetables that will guide them and for the case of day scholars their parents take the responsibility of waking them up to go to school each day while for a student in college he or she has a lot of responsibilities because he or she is required to pay for any reading material he or she has to read . Also, a college has no one who structures his or her time for thus he or she has to plan on every class that requires attendance and identify the hall to be taught in because at the college level classes are not assigned to one group like the case of high school.

Similarly, high school and colleges differ because top scholars are governed by specific rules that are not mandatory at the college level .for instance, use if bells at high school level signify different aspects either change of lesson, going for a break or even going to take the meal. Also, at high school level attending of classes and full attendance of classes is mandatory (Harklau, Linda 36).On the other hand, in college, there are no bells that inform learners of change of programs instead they use their watches and timetables to know which unit follows which one, a college student can choose not to attend classes fully, and there is no putting on of uniform for them.

The other difference is that high school learner usually know about their upcoming tests and quizzes because the teachers keep on reminding the students whenever they are teaching while at college level it is the learners responsibility to remember the criteria that he or she will do and their specific dates and stick to the program that was issued out by the instructor at the beginning of the term.
