Strategic human resource departments are crucial to the success of 21st-century organizations. Strategic human resource management involves human resources decisions and activities that contribute to the long-term organization goals (Mahew, 2018). The HR is central to any organization future organization success because they are a source of competitive advantage through quality products and efficient business processes (Leroux, 2009). Organizations in the 21st century invest in the human resources to enhance their strategic advantage through training, benefits and compensation. Organizations attract, develop, reward and retain employees to achieve strategic human resources management. Therefore, strategic human resource management is logic and effective towards achieving the long-term organization goals (Mahew, 2018).

In a strategic framework, the human resources attract and recruits best talents and provide them with education to develop their skills and creativity which promotes an organization innovation spirit and adds to the organization competitive advantage in the long term (Brooks, 2010). In another strategic aspect, 21st-century organizations are using the reward system as a strategic approach of retaining employees as well as attracting the best talents which increase the organization outcomes by promoting competitive ideas and innovation in the organization.

Q2. Thoughts about HR Functions Today

The primary role of the human resources management is normalizing the relationship between the employers and the employees (Mahew, 2018). The purpose and function of the HR have evolved over time, and today the HR play a comprehensive role that facilitates the organization to achieve its long-term goals. The HR in the 1980s mainly provided administrative functions by providing the employees with the necessary benefits such as insurance and also processing the pays of the employees (Mahew, 2018). Today, the HR recruits, rewards, trains and acts as the voice of the employees by representing the interests of the employees in the organization. Most of the current HR functions today are strategic because they contribute towards long-term organization benefits by facilitating innovation which increases an organization competitive advantage (Haark, 2015). An organization that can attract and offer the best rewards and training can be able to retain resourceful employees which increases the organizational outcomes.
