Aviation and Aeronautic industry is a very vital industry since it plays a vital role in promoting globalization and industrial age. It enhances the transfer of labor and capital from one destination to another and augments trade. However, in some circumstances, the aviation industry has been prone to various accidents which have put the lives of those who are on board in danger ("F7 Europe: Commercial Aviation," n.d.). To analyze the data of commercial aviation statistics over time, there are issues and factors which should be put into considerations. Therefore, in this report, the main aim is to give clear discussions of some of the issues which people should be aware of while analyzing and comparing the commercial aviation accident statistics. These will aid in decision making and planning abilities in the aviation industry as well as their use by other stakeholders.
Discussions
In the analysis of commercial aviation accidents statistics, the researcher should take caution on the type of data they are collecting and assessing to enable a viable conclusion to be drawn from the study. The researcher should determine the type of data to be gathered and identify the metric of comparisons. The data should be recorded over a given period where it is accepted by the federal authorities or other authorities who are in charge of aviation data management. The most accepted indicator which is used in the assessment of the aviation accident statistics is the use of the exposure data. Exposure data normally indicates the degree of opportunity for an accident to occur. It uses the rates such as the aircraft accidents and facilities per million of departures (Froesch, 1934). These will give a gist of the number of aircraft flying per day and the destinations in which they were to arrive at so as to ensure that the data used conforms to the reliable and first-hand statistics
On the other hand, before carrying out the analysis of the data set, one needs to ensure that the data is obtained from an authorized websites or institutions. The approval should be done to ascertain that the data which is used is valid and up to standards so as to avoid providing misleading information to the users. When the data source is genuine, then the users will gain confidence in its reliability and applicability (Warner, 1927). Besides, the researcher should ensure that he or she understand the purpose of the analysis and give specific information about the study. For instance, when the statistical analysis of the commercial aviation is to be done, the researcher should not include other information about the private aviation accidents. These can give misleading information to the users and make the policy implementers make and implement wrong decisions hence wastage of the scarce resources either in the short or long run.
Conclusion
Therefore, when analyzing the commercial aviation accidents or any other piece of data, various factors should be put into consideration so as to prevent chaos and confusion. It is a process which can enable the government and various stakeholders to make viable decisions basing their argument on the report hence leading to proper management and use of scarce resources. Besides, it will also help to reduce the occurrence of the subsequent accidents given that the right actions are taken. It thus enhances the consumers safety.
