Celine Dion is among the most sensational pop singers of the late 20th century. A career that officially began in 1990 and reached its peak in the early years of the new millennium. Born on 30th March of the year 1968, from Adhemar-Charles Dion and Therese Tanguay Dion in Charlemagne Quebec in Canada. Celine Dion began her music career the age of 12. She then recorded a demo tape of a song that she had written with her mother. Celine Dion had won several French awards by the age 18. Her debut album The Voice of God was financed by Rene Angelil who was inspired by the demo tape she recorded beside her mom.
Dion had her first English language Album released in the year 1990 after she had undergone training to polish her English according to (Young) and some training on vocals after she had injured them. Before then all her albums were recorded in the French language. However, it would take 2 years before she sees her rise to true stardom when she recorded the theme song for the Disney movie beauty and the beast. She followed this up by releasing hit songs, The Power of Love, Because you loved me, Im your angel, and My Heart Will Go On. Although she has officially retired from the music industry, she still carries out live performances at various stages all around the world.
Other than music Celine Dion is also an entrepreneur who has her own magazine, Celine Dion Magazine. She also has her own line of perfume brand, Celine Dion perfume. Other than this she carries out endorsements for various beauty products especially in Canada and Europe. Celine Dion has managed to acquire an immense wealth of over 630 million dollars. She owns homes in Las Vegas Canada and is an avid golfer (Magwire 25)
Celine Dion got married to her manager Rene Angelil whom she met at the age of 12 and Rene was 38 at the time. Dion would go on to marry Rene at the age of 26. Rene had previously successfully fought off throat cancer and emerged victoriously, but thing seemed to to take a turn for the worse when Celine Dion canceled all her shows in 2014 to attend to her husbands throat cancer.Celine Dion has on several occasions spoken bout her husbands battle with cancer. She describes the choices she had to make to see through her family. She says how shoe chose to display strength in front of a person that was fighting to show strength in times of pain.
She describes her husband as a good analyst and strategies. He is able to analyze situations from all angles and come up with solutions which her herself could not come up with. She talks about Rene and how he could get respect out of people. Instead of demanding for it he would earn it by giving respect. Celine Dion describes Rene as someone who would pay attention to detail without forgetting a single person. Rene is someone who would find a way to make everyone feel important and loved. Even when he is struggling, he would still ask about my wellbeing with a faint voice. In what would have otherwise be viewed as an act of politeness he was not because he was sincere about it. He would enter a room, and everything would light up.
Rene was a reminder that the most important thing in life was that act of togetherness. Sticking together even when faced with tough situations. Rene was not just a husband, but he was a friend. Celine Dion loved Rene and Rene loved her too. There love would forever be present even in the absence of the lover.(Wilson 57)According to her Renes love will carry on through their children and the things he loved. Celine Dion says, Rene has gone to heaven to make sure that everything is alright. To prepare the way for their arrival, and if it isnt it will be when we meet him again. Under the tutelage of Rene Celines career blossomed as she became the first Canadian to win a gold album in France. Rene Angelil died on 14th January of the year 2016.
For a person with a long music career as Celine Dion, she has managed to maintain top performance year after year. Even in her retirement she still manages to entertain both the old generation and the young generation. This can be attributed to some of her timeless hits like;I am your angel. Among the best-selling Francophone albums of all time is Celine Dions Deux. She is credited with introducing francophone music to non-francophone countries having sold over 250 million copies in albums alone. Her Album, Falling into you of 1996 won a grammy award for the album of the year and best pop album. Her song on, My Heart Will Go On also won the best vocal performance in 1998. Another recording that could not miss an award is her theme song on the Disney movie,Beauty and the Beast since it was the song that got her worldwide recognition(Glatzer 35).Her theme song for the Disney movie won the best original song Academy award in 1992 while The Heart Goes On which was used in the movie,Titanic also won the same award.She was honored with the legend award in 2007.Not only was Celine Dion the first Canadian to win a gold record in France she also went ahead to win the Discovery of the Year Awardand best female performer.
Celine Dion shows are among the biggest shows on the planet and usually have sold out tickets. It is difficult to pick the shows that are superior to another, but her performances at the Colosseum in Vegas are among the biggest performances. Her return to the Colosseum is set to be the biggest show in town.Celine Dion is set to perform on the Caesars Palace stage in Las Vegas where she will perform all her greatest hits including her timeless hits. The show which has been termed as The Show of Shows by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, is set to be the biggest performance since the performance by Elvis. This is according to Newsweek. The show which will be directed by the Academy Award, ken Ehrlich, will have Celine Dion perform alongside 31 other musicians in a full orchestra.The Colosseum which is considered her residence will some of the biggest names in Las Vegas share the stage. The Colosseum will be a visually designed to produce one the most beautiful stage sets ever seen. The ticket prices range from 250 dollars to 55 dollars and can be purchased online or from the Coliseum
