Gender equality

Gender inequality is a civil right which has been a discussion for many years in the United States. Women tend to be given minority seats in the parliament. Notably, promotion in organizations tends to be given to men over women. Women for several years have been seen as human beings who are fit to take minor courses in education levels. Additionally, they are viewed as individuals who are supposed to take home chores only. Right on gender equality has been voted for by women, for example, women suffrage association. The organization was a constitution of women who vote for the rights to be given equally to men.

For example, Hillary Clinton succeeded in vying for presidency in the United States despite being a woman. Civil rights events on gender equality influenced leaders on the way they are heading the community. With the presence of equality between the sexes, women have gained respect just like male gender.

Question Two

Several events in the United States in history have shown the success and failing of government of the United States. Media events have the power to influence public opinion or perception of that particular event. For example:

Event 1

Ruby Ridge is a place for a standoff between federal agents (FBI), American Marshals service and Weaver family in their local residence (Idaho). The standoff started as a final trial to give out an arrest warrant on Randy Weaver against their possessing and making of illegal weapons. Initial attempts to arrest Randy failed since he refused to be arrested and stayed at his home. On the process of the event, Standoff, American marshal and Randys wife all died. The response of FBI that led to two civilians who were unarmed to lose their lives contributed to the perception of the public that federal agents are ruthless and aggressive in protecting the citizen's lives, and especially on gun ownership.

Event two

Another event which was covered in the media is FEMA response in New Orleans devastation after Katrina Hurricane. The major criticism emphasized in the media centers was a slow response by FEMA. The director, Michael Brown of the FEMA defended himself by saying that he had no right to evacuate the New Orleans people according to the constitution. The blame on Mr. Brown view was the mayor of the city and state president, Bush. The media stories such as the allegation that that FEMA was responsible for the deaths led to the lack of trust by the public on the government agencies.
