Obesity tends to be a growing concern among the lives of many individuals. It can be described as a condition that entails an individual being overweight or having a weight that exceeds the normal human weight. The body mass index is the tool used to determine whether an individual is obese or not. There are various interventions associated with the control of the condition among the affected population. It is worth noting that most people perceive that the condition is associated with poor eating habits. However, obesity is also attributed to aspects such as genetics, lack of an adequate balance diet, lack of exercise, and absence of efficient education regarding the condition. It is advised for people who are at risk of suffering from obesity to undergo screening such that interventions are put in place before the condition becomes a problem (Waters et.al, 2011). Obesity being a condition that affects the health of individuals, it is important to analyze the risk factor modification, interventions and the treatments associated with it.

According to Fernandez et.al (2007), surgery on patients with obesity in specialized institutions is an effective approach when compared to the usual diet therapies, drug therapies and physical exercises that have been unsuccessful in most cases. The surgeries might be the best options for individuals with morbid obesity who are unsuccessful when it comes to clinical treatment. One of the surgical approaches is the silicon intragastric balloon treatment. The approach functions temporarily in assisting obese patients to lose an approximate of forty percent of their total weight; especially those that have no benefited from the other approaches used for losing weight. Individuals who exhibit a high potential of surgery are also encouraged to take part in the surgery. It is worth noting that the positioning of the IGB and also its removal tends to involve an involvement of an endoscopic process whereby the design of the balloon allows it to float inside the stomach. In the course of the placement, the size of the balloon might be altered. Also, the method assists in the reduction of the stomachs volume such that the patient experiences a feeling of satiety. However, the effectiveness of the approach is still under study as risks such as gastric problems and ulcers might occur (Fernandez et.al, 2007).

Another guideline that is perceived to be effective but minimally is the use of chitosan. Chitosan refers to a diet supplement that assists in the loss of body weight in addition to the control of cholesterol intensities in the blood (Jull et.al,2008). According to Waters et.al (2011), more studies or research need to be done on the intervention programs for children who are at high risk of suffering from obesity. The scholars assert that the strategies regarding the loss of weight, poor dieting habits, and negative attitudes affiliated to weight have proven to be less helpful in assisting children who might be affected by obesity (Water et.al, 2011).

Another guideline is the use of I statements in the clinical procedures in regards to intervention strategies (U.S Preventive Services, 2016). One of the associated risk factors with obesity is the development of coronary diseases affiliated to the heart among people with obesity. One of the significant approaches associated with the prevention of the diseases is tolerance with respect to exercise. In other words, the risk factor modification is for the patients to be patient and disciplined in their exercise programs. Exercise assists with the breakage of fats and those patients that persevere with the exercises reduce the risk of contracting coronary problems. It is worth noting that excess body fat tend to strain the heart such that it becomes challenging to reduce risks associated with high blood cholesterols, high blood pressure in addition to diabetes. It is worth noting that twenty percent of the population with obesity are at risk of developing coronary problems. Individuals with obesity are highly advised to watch their diet and to have a fitness program that keeps their weight in check to prevent being affected by the coronary diseases. It is perceived that most adults give up on the exercise programs especially if they perceive that there is no that much of a difference in their weight and hence risking their bodies to more problems. Clinicians are advised to keep check of the exercise programs given to their patients with the emphasis that they are shielding themselves from further problems or rather securing their health. It is advised that family members should be aware of the intervention programs that patients with the condition have such that they give maximum support to the individual. Furthermore, the awareness should be propagated by clinicians who may be required to conduct checkups on patients even when they are at their homes instead of only when the patients are in the hospital premises. The similarity between the approaches is that they both focus on losing weight and involve the efforts between the patients and the clinicians. Other forms of intervention include; taking part in activities that manage behavior (an example being having goals on weight loss), self-regulation, developing methods that promote change in lifestyles, in addition to improving the diet of an individual and frequent engagement in exercise (U.S Preventive Services, 2016).

Obesity being a condition that affects the health of individuals, it is important to analyze the risk factor modification, interventions and the treatments associated with it. The contraction of coronary diseases is one of its major risk factors and hence adequate modifications have to be put in place. It is worth noting that support is needed from family members and clinicians for patients with obesity for them to lead healthy lives.
