I am a born leader with certain leadership skills. In high school, I am a peak performer and behaviorist and have been so since my first year. Currently, I maintain a GPA of 3.4. I consider myself more of a leader than a boss. My style of leading is through example and a firm believer that at all times example is better than precept. My greatest secret in leadership is the ability to balance leniency and power. I never let power get the better of me and affect my relationship with those around me. Also, I always aim to be the hardest worker in a room such that if my authority is not enough to inspire, my diligence is. I am hands-on with effort kind of person and can make cold calculations in stressful situations. In conflict management, I am excellent in and have helped a couple of friends put their differences aside.

Secondly, your program promotes creativity, innovation, and sharing. I intend to use your program as a platform to share my creativity and leadership skills with students from all over the world. My strong initiative and exceptional organizational skills, combined with the ability to work well under pressure will see me through your busy schedules and thus, make a substantial contribution to your summer program as well as other students. I have an excellent follow-through on tasks and procedures enabling me to work under minimal supervision. I believe that my actions and skills will be geared to support your policies and procedures.

I take my classwork and academics seriously. Through performance, contests, and projects, I have demonstrated proficiency and profound interest in what I do. Discipline is never a topic of discussion as I consider it to be the greatest virtue one can possess. I have participated in co-curricular activities and won in international competitions. I welcome the opportunity to discuss with you how my skills, motivation, and ambition can be incorporated and even enhanced through your program. I am not in a capacity to finance my tuition in your institution but I believe I meet all the necessary qualifications for a scholarship. The scholarship will help me achieve my goals while continuing to be an academically outstanding student who will not only be a motivation to my fellow students but also integral team player in the entire college fraternity.

I have always aspired to be a prominent lawyer and have a very specific passion for international law. However, to achieve that I will first have to pursue a degree in law at the University of Arizona. My passion for law started at a tender age of 12 years and I would always purpose to help my friends in arguments and solve conflicts amicably. As a result, throughout the years, most people would turn to me for advice and I found myself solving disputes between friends and family. I like seeing justice served and to me it is the higher calling. Over the years, I have associated with people from all walks of life and I embrace diversity. I am friendly and easy to relate with because I never shy from expressing my true self and in the process, I encourage those around me to do the same. Consequentially, I get people to be the real version of themselves friends and strangers alike. A career in international relations is in line with my career dreams and aspirations and I would be more than honored to be awarded the scholarship. Thank you in advance. Looking forward to a favorable response.

Scholarship Essay 2

In The Tempest, Caliban is the only character who does not have a happy ending. He is depicted as an unintelligent monster who makes rational decisions and must be kept away from people for their own good. He is painted as a destructive character that needs to be kept in check at all times. The big question is, is his fate deserved? Is he a product of nature or just another creature born with unchangeable characteristics? This essay is going to expound on Caliban as a character in The Tempest.

From a personal point of view, Calibans fate is undeserved and the animosity he is treated with is outrightly brutal and inhumane. Caliban, just like any other offspring, happens to have evil parents. Born of a witch and the devil, it couldnt get any worse for him. This is a classic case of those children whose fate is determined at birth and for that reason, they live their entire lives trying to match up the set standards or live according to the expectations of others. The most unfortunate thing about these kind of offspring is that their reputation precedes them and they are never given the chance to discover themselves, let alone find their own path. Caliban is an example of such. At a very young age, Prospero captured Caliban and made him his slave. Prosperos magic could control Caliban and as a result, he used it to trap him in an island alone.

Caliban spends most of his life alone and this made him very insolent and rebellious. His fate is deserving, I think Prospero should have given him a chance to express himself and not judge him entirely based on his parents. Of course, there are very slim chances that Caliban would make a good member of the society but the least that Prospero could have done is give him a chance to prove himself. Prosperos actions would have been justified if Caliban had failed the test. In my opinion, Prospero played a significant part in painting Caliban as an evil monster. The fact that he imprisoned him in an island provoked him to be rebellious, insolent, and revenge seeking; which is a very normal feeling and reaction even to the best of people when under such circumstances.

Had Caliban been given freedom which is pretty much every persons desire, he would not for one be plotting to kill Prospero as he held nothing against him. The fact that he was born with unique and unchangeable characteristics should not be a basis of discrimination. Discriminating him only makes him self-aware of his unique nature and he does not take this very well. If Caliban were accepted in the society and given the love that everyone deserves, there are minimal chances he would have turned out this way. It is so unfair that Caliban spent his lifetime paying for sins he did not commit. The only mistake he made was being born of evil parents and he paid very dearly for it. Psychologically, paying for the mistakes that one did not commit turns the person to be the monster he/she is painted as they have nothing to lose. Caliban spent most of his life in agony and regarded as evil and eventually, he decided to be this villain that he was being painted by plotting to murder Prospero.

In more ways than one, Caliban is innocent and it takes a lot of understanding and empathy to see this. He was just another character responding to physical and emotional torture.

Scholarship Essay 3

Freedom stands for something greater than just the right to act however I choose. It stands for securing to everyone an equal opportunity for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Everyone needs to be free in one point or the other. It doesnt matter how young or old this being is but being free must and should be part and parcel of human living

To most reasonable people, freedom means more than just free to do whatever I want. Taken literally, that approach would produce anarchy, every man and woman and child for himself or herself. Fortunately, none of us has to live that way. Certainly freedom does mean the right to do what one pleases, to think, believe, speak, worship(or even dont worship), travel around , gather and generally act as you choose -- but until your choices start to infringe on another persons freedom.

Actually this being a greater deal and question. What is that I consider to be free or not, and how does it affect the other person. Some of the freedoms are global freedoms(that are gazetted somewhere in the world book) and some that are country independent. These freedoms keep on being bended and changed over time just to suit the needs of the evolving world. Some freedoms are controversial to some cultures and others are not. Some of the ways free-dom is expressed in Kenya includes the following..Freedom of worship(or not). Everyone ought to choose whether to be a worshiper or not. It doesnt state that if my parent is a Christian I am a Christian by default. No, it means you can choose whatever religion and practices that suits you right. It means one should make a choice to worship a certain deity of choice. But again, its not a must you do this. You can end up being an atheist and be believing in science and other bending rules of matter.

Freedom of speech and expression. This is the right to voice ones opinion without fear of government, restraint or censorship. However, even if one has the freedom, hate speech and taking ill of people without evidence can be a misuse of this freedom. Therefore, as much as one has the freedom to talk in whatever way he/ she wants must respect others in the talking

The constitution establishes the culture of freedom by ensuring provision of all rights guarantees and remedies assigned by the constitution of any government. It guarantees every citizen legitimate rights for freedom. In the bill of right it mainly focuses on the protection of the human rights. Therefore stating that every person shall enjoy the rights to the greatest extent consistent with the nature of the right or fundamental freedom. The government also ensures that there is public awareness so that the citizens can acknowledge the existence of various rights and can be liable in case they break the law.

However, these, so called freedoms, are infringed to some certain point. For instance, it doesnt apply to those who are jailed. Freedom to movement, worship (sometimes), speech (for self-expression) are somehow not practiced when someone is behind bars. Therefore, everyone has a right to enjoy his / her rights and at the same time respect the law.

For the longest time now, the age-crime relationship has been one of the most consistent and reliable findings in the history of criminology. The results date way back in the 1800s through researches conducted by social statisticians, sociologists, and philosophers who were interested in understanding this relationship at a deeper angle. The relationship between crime and age assumes a curvilinear pattern ("Teenage Juries: Summary of a Report of a Study National Council on Crime and Delinquency," 1966). Research shows that although this relationship is not quite debated as it should be, it remains to be one of the strongest there is. The relationship between age and crime is an issue of global importance, and there are several factors behind this trend.

In their article, Bushway, and Piehl, state that the pattern of the age-crime curve is unimodal; this means that crime rates increase linearly from childhood to adolescence and peaks during the late teenage years. However, their research is based on official crime rate and does not put into account criminal activities that did not lead to arrest or documented in the occurrence book (Quayle, 2005). The research did not also put into consideration the social misconduct affiliated with teenagers which could surmount to a crime that was not indicated. However, their study did show that upon reaching its peak, criminal activities decline rapidly through the adulthood stage (Bushway & Piehl, 2007).

Michalowski suggests that the increase in crime rates among adolescents and young adults can be attributed to their rebellious nature. When puberty kicks in, th...
