Dear friend,
My civil duty attached to patriotism and selflessness led me into rejecting Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court judge position. I have been disturbed by the numerous reports that associate him with lots of controversies that compromises his public demeanor given the high-level duty that awaits him once he gets confirmed. I know you hold a different opinion but consider the fact that his position requires somebody of unquestionable character. Therefore, find herein my disapproval for Brett Kavanaugh as the next Supreme Court judge.
You probably hold a contrary notion since he is set to be confirmed despite the massive public outcry. It is in your purview that Trump's administration continues to face serious administrative and legal challenges regarding most of the president's appointments. The radical style leadership of Trump does not appeal to progressive ideology but rather conservative ones like the president (McCarthy, n.p). You understand that lack of sufficient evidence to pin down Brett does not cleanse him altogether. However, you are rightfully entitled to view this matter from any standpoint that suits your convenience.
I share respectfully in your argument that legal issues do not get resolved through mere hearsay but with sufficient facts that can pass verifiability test. However, public perception determines the performance of a public servant significantly. The post of Supreme Court judge due to its public nature puts a lot of expectations in someone that is charged with the responsibility of discharging all manner of duties that come with the position above (Sabur and Smith, n.p). I hope you ably acknowledge that the Supreme Court is the apex court in any jurisdiction that should dispense justice with utmost care and fairness. Nevertheless, the notion that Brett's character creates does not conform to the high-level expectation which it should ideally adopt.
Consequently, you understand the vulnerable nature of the female gender throughout the world. It is evident that every nation wants women empowerment which is taking place in different dimensions. For instance, some jurisdictions have adopted affirmative action among other means to achieve it. Kavanaugh as the person next in command for the position of a Supreme Court judge would jeopardize the entrenchment of such a viable initiative. The presence of Kavanaugh at the apex court would intimidate not only women but also encourage future sex pests (McCarthy, n.p). The controversial reprieve for Brett would make many into believing that crime pays and one can get away with it and that justice can be compromised.
I believe that you too understand that Trump is engaged in entrenching classism among other aspects of conservative ideology. It should concern you that people continue to protest the appointment of Kavanaugh due to rape accusations leveled against him among other complaints. Even though the above accusations may remain just that, it is almost impossible for an individual to be accused by many people like Kavanaugh with many different cases. While you may cite the FBI probe that never yielded viable results that could prosecute the Supreme Court nominee, you should exercise ethical care in construing the implications of his confirmation. He stands to jeopardize justice as he would carefully but determinately collide with the criminal justice system in killing cases against him (Seung et al., n.p).
Therefore, I beseech you to reason with me and oppose the nomination of Kavanaugh. The legal argument should not allow us to disregard our social fabric but should instead strengthen our zeal to defend it all together. It should concern any right-minded citizen that I believe you are the continued shrinking democratic space under the current dispensation. Democracy should not only get interpreted from the standpoint of votes but also the type of rulings that are currently coming from the courts (Sabur and Smith, n.p). Most Supreme Court pronouncements tend to favor the president and his administration which offends the tenets of good governance of separation of powers and independence of various arms of government. Therefore, the confirmation of Kavanaugh would only allow these types of impurities to rise to higher levels which must stop now.
While you may find it convenient in respecting the law and its guidelines, consider integrating it with moral ethics that would not allow the manner of the appointment directions that the president is taking. Morally, right actions should realize only a beneficence outcome and anything that does not fit such a threshold does not merit the same (Seung et al., n.p). Even though the accusations and outlined evidence do not merit overturning his nomination, continued protest and public outcry can save a fortune which I urge you to undertake kindly.
In conclusion, Kavanaugh does not qualify Supreme Court nomination based on the moral principles and even legal grounds. You realize that America is endowed with great and experienced legal minds that can successfully fill such a position without causing much resistance like in the case of Brett. However, the appointing authority is reluctant to change the negative perception it would raise but is determined to bulldoze his way. I urge you to look at the appointment of Kavanaugh as the many ways in which a nation fails.
Yours sincerely, Friend.
