Sampling Method

The group used the convenient sampling method and ensured that all the people who took part in the study were part of the workshops and Cultural Sensitivity talks. One of the problems that can arise when this method of sampling is used is the issue of bias. There is the possibility that the procedure can collect the data of a certain group of individual and not the entire population. A given section of the society may be underrepresented or overrepresented meaning that the details collected will not be true and this will adversely affect the conclusion made. b.ii. Recruitment

The groups of people that were sampled were in only two sectors of the economy, and they were the police force and the institutions of learnings. There is a large number of non-ethnic communities that are found in neither of these two groups considering that there are those who have left their country to work. They are neither in the police force or schools, but in the corporate sector. The main problem that can arise from the use of just two groups is the underrepresentation of some communities.

Format

The issue of determining the acceptance towards people that have different ethnicity was undertaken through dividing the process into two sections. The first process involved having a short written response that requested the participants to state the person who would be described as a Hong Konger and the perception that they hold about them. The second part included multiple choice questions, and the respondents were required to tick against a list of ethnic groups on their acceptance towards them.

The format of the question I accept...with....Is that the respondents will have a wide range of responses that may not be adequate to conclude. It may limit their ability to give the right responses since they have been limited by the question asked. Ethnicity Categories

The respondents should not have been provided with a list of the ethnic communities, but it should have been left as a general response. By doing this, they would have managed to think about their feedback before writing down. There is a possibility that the ethnic community that appears at the top of the list may get a lot of ticks than the rest below it. The quality of the findings will be compromised since they will not give a clear representation. c.ii. I have doubts with the reliability of the scores considering that the responses given by the respondents may have been triggered by their current state. There is a chance that if they were asked the same questions after a short period, they would give different answers. d.i. The Two-sample t-test will be an effective tool in examining whether the mean obtained from two independent groups are significantly different from each other.

The analysis of variance (ANOVA) procedure will be useful in this case for it will help in determining the differences that exist between the groups mean.

The definition of Hong Kongers was measure ad as the persons who form the largest group of residents in Hong Kong and the groups of individuals who have been residents of this region from a long time. There was the determination of the number of people in each community in Hong Kong and their origin and where they were born. It may happen that at the time of the survey, people of a given community may not be in Hong Kong and they will thus be regarded as a minority group. Additionally, the statistics that give the number of residents of Hong Kong may also not be accurate, and this will lead to the wrong conclusions.
