Introduction

The education system of any country determines to some extent the level of growth in the society. The level of equality in education among many people varies according to communal settings. It has been witnessed in the United States of America that there is a level of inequality in the education sector especially due to racial backgrounds. There are however various ways in which this system can be improved. The one way includes the use of community psychology and other sub-disciplines of psychology to arrive at a possible solution.

The community psychology looks into how people relate with other individuals in the community and the wider society at large. This affects many aspects of the community including the education sector. There are many factors that the community psychology can contribute to the improving of the education system of the United States of America. The first thing is that the individuals who are being less disadvantaged or discriminated against have the responsibility of change. They are to identify the problem they are facing and try to adjust to fit the environment.

The second thing that community psychology does in to improve the education sector is through empowering the minority in the society so that they feel a part of the community (Shekar, 2019). For example, Kozol in the book, The Shame of Nations, describes a scripted program success for all, whose aim is to drive a curriculum changes that would favour everybody (Kozol, 2005).

Coupled with empowerment is the need to have a psychological sense of community where collaboration is encouraged. Kozol presents a situation where the emphasis in the urban schools is more work-related unlike the suburbs which are overcrowded, and their focus is on professionalism. Changing this psychology and encouraging collaboration would reduce the congestion in the suburb schools and students come up with a common goal for their academics.

The subsystem that complements the community psychology is the neuroscience. This field digs into the relationship between the brain system and the behaviour of people (Maley & Piccinini). It is suggested for the education system to improve, people's views on various issues need to change. This field will enable the students from both the urban and the suburbs to view education at a different perspective. Since psychology is built from a young age, it is encouraged that these students are brought up to know they are all equal. Kozol insists that the segregation of parties should be removed if we are to improve the education sector on the county. This also takes into account the physical appearance of the school. According to Kozol, the environment may demotivate students if it's in bad condition. This also has to do with their psychology. The environment should, therefore, be serene for academics if improvement in the education sector is to be improved.

Conclusion

In conclusion, from the community psychology and the neuroscience, an improvement in the education sector begins with the psychology of the people. Once it is geared in the right direction, improvement will be so easy. It is advocated that this improvement should aim at reducing the segregation and bringing about collaboration in the society where everyone is included. It should be built in the minds of people, and once the mentality is right, improvement is inevitable especially the suburb schools.
