Research shows that two thin wires rubbed together and caused a short circuiting which led to the opening of the locks of the cargo door in the body of the craft (Liew et al., 2014). When the plane got to altitudes of 23,000 ft. High, the doors leading to the loading chambers bursting open and were ripped off the plane (Liew et al., 2014). Due to the high pressure, the structure of the cabin was interfered with, and this led to the creation of a passage through the passengers' cabin since it bordered the cargo cabin. The nature of the passage resulted in nine passengers being blown away through the passage, out of the plane and up to date their bodies were never recovered (Liew et al., 2014).

The impact of this issue on the management of United Airlines was severe as the administration faced massive losses beginning with compensation of the families of those who lost their people (Liew et al., 2014). It also led to decreased trust from the customers, and this was seen by the decrease in numbers of people who opted for the United Airlines (Liew et al., 2014). This resulted in massive losses and is a matter that should be handled by the management with a lot of care.

Aging wire issues is a concern that is subject to discussion by the manufacturers, airlines and the aviation maintenance technicians (Cromie et al., 2015). The manufacturers should ensure they use the quality cable that is not bound to easy wear and tear. The airline management should inspect the planes before they are acquired to ensure that they are of top notch standards and that the wires used are of the best quality. The airline maintenance technicians should regularly inspect the planes for aging wires and report to the management for necessary actions to be taken (Cromie et al., 2015).

In conclusion, aviation maintenance is an issue that should be addressed by all airlines seriously to avoid cases of accidents. Aging wires to is a major problem, though seems minor, that can lead to very massive losses both by the airline management and the customers involved. It is the responsibility of the aviation management always to ensure that the planes are in good condition before they take off.
