Racism is the notion that an individuals particular race is superior compared to others. Over the years, racism has been a complex problem that continues to exist in schools, workforces, and the entire society. Racism is the judgment of not only race, but also culture and background. Even so, in most companies owned by the elite Whites, Blacks find it hard to get employment opportunities because of racism. For a long time, Some Whites have continued to be racists towards the Blacks. On a broader perspective, the reason most Blacks cannot rise to the top successfully is due to White racism. Racism leads to oppression, discomfort, stereotypes, and unrest. In all cases, when an individual is racist, they tend to utter stereotype words against them. Besides, Muslim terrorist groups such as the ISIS, Al-Shabaab, and AL Qaeda promote the issue of race in regards to culture. A recent event of racism was evident in the past United States elections. On his campaign strategies, the president-elect Donald Trump vowed to remove all Blacks, immigrants, and the Muslim community from the United States. Evidently, his actions were pure racist. It is sad to hear that racism still exists in the 21st Century. It only means that globally, human civilization does not prevail up to today. From a personal perspective, the only difference in humankind is the color of the hair or the language they speak, but it is not an excuse for people to discriminate others because of their ethnic background. Besides, the topic of racism puts forward the question of moral and ethical psychology. The demonstration of racism is a means for an elite group to uphold social and economic power. Companies and schools have to endorse diversity training to curb the menace of racism in the world. The paper addresses racism as a contemporary issue in the context of in-depth complex matters and ethical approaches that relate to the topic. The discussion begins with the ethical approaches to racism, then the relationship between diversity and racism, and link between terrorism and racism. The increase in incidences of racial hatred across the world should stop to make the world a better place.
The first discussion discussed in the paper is ethical and moral issues that surround racism. The moral/ethical approaches to racism is that some people view racism as normal while others are against it. Even so, Srivastava (2015) asserts that historically, individuals gender depictions of morality in regards to racism. The author adds that the fortification of white women during the colonies from the immoral passions of men of color was a justification of gender and racialized representation of value. Some Whites judge African Americans by the color of their skin and the way they act in different situations. It is morally wrong for people to judge others because of their looks or their skin color. Aristotle pointed out that every action has a magnitude. The action of racism results in lewd acts in the society. A recent documentary on Investigation Discovery extra (IDX) on TV showed a young black female who brutally died at the hands of her four White neighbors. So to speak, her neighbors were so racist that they decided to end the poor womans life because she was black. The example shows a description of how human beings can surpass their moral justifications and commit murder because they do not like the other race. Another example is the Leftist groups of America. Some White Americans continued to discriminate and eliminate members of the group at intervals because they wanted to fight for their rights as Blacks. In general, individuals can deal with the moral/ethical issue when they use logic. If logic applied to every persons mind and set aside his or her bigotries, racism would never exist.
Second, organizations and schools should promote diversity to help restrain racial hatred among the people. The leaders of the particular organizations and institutions should conduct educational training and diversity programs to help people bond and understand each others background. Dike (2013) affirms that diversity exposes employees to new cultures, and perspectives that contribute to improve their personal growth, know the global surroundings, and understand their environment. The author explains that diversity eliminates the barriers of ethnocentrism. Individuals should feel secure with ethnic and cultural differences. Moreover, diverse practices strengthen a country and make it less prone to racial hatred. More so, education institutions have to endorse students from different backgrounds and teach lessons related to racism and diversity. It is believable that diversity lessons will help students and workers to have a sense of intellect and eliminate the ideas of racism.
Third, some few Muslims, whose links go down to terrorism, continue to be culture-racists. Some people argue that not all terrorists are Muslims. In the real sense, the Muslim community always wants non-Muslims to join their culture and religion. The terrorist groups recruit non-Muslims to work for them. A previous attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi Kenya on September 21, 2013, saw terrorists kill non-Muslims because they could not recite certain verses of the Quran. The paper does not claim that all Muslims are terrorists, but the way few of them perceive their culture, as more superior than others, is the reason the topic of culture-racism is part of the points discussed. They claim to spread peace but make people fear for their lives and want to convert to Islam. The whole issue brings along the subject of Islamophobia. Today, some Muslims want to join the ISIS to cause unrest in nations. In many of their attacks, they mention phrases like I am the Prophet of Allah or say Allah Akbar. In fact, the Islam terrorist groups retaliate because they want to protect the oppressed Muslims. Apparently, the issue of oppression is one of the stereotypes of racism. OConnor (2016) explains that in the November US elections, Trump declared that Muslims are Anti-American. Donald Trumps statement is likely to make Muslims feel unwanted oppressed. Every human being should consider their counterparts equal to avoid destruction of property and loss of lives would be in the past.
In summary, the world would be a better place if human beings appreciated one another and stopped the dogma of racism. Up to date, most societies build pyramids of power to make some races more significant than others do. The damage that comes along with the negative stereotypes of racism has severe outcomes and does not promote inter-cultural relations as well as inter-marriages. The sad part is that not all stereotypes victimize or discriminate all races. The powerful White elites tend to have the power to act on their racial biases to a greater level than any other influential Black elite do. The paper presents an in-depth analysis of the contemporary issue of racism. It describes the moral/ethical approaches towards the subject, subdivisions such as diversity training in the workforce and institutions of education, and culture-racism in the Muslim community. Individuals should acknowledge the fact that everyone is equal. More to the point, people should consider how their emotions and thoughts affect their actions and beliefs. Overall, human beings can eliminate their racial thoughts when they expose their selves with different races, ethnic backgrounds, and culture.
