Donald Trumps win was well-received in some parts of the world. More specifically, the Russian president congratulated the president-elect and pledged Russias willingness to restore ties fully with the United States. I believe that closer ties and cooperation between the United States and Russia can have potential benefits which are likely to have a global impact. For instance, closer collaboration between the two countries in the war against terrorism will lead to a more stable and peaceful world, especially in the Middle East countries. This is because both countries have powerful arsenal and intelligence capable of taking down violent extremists e.g. in Syria where both countries are now fighting terrorists. Currently, there is no clear and united focus between the two countries on this issue. For instance, while Russia is supporting the Syrian president in its war against terrorism, the United States is supporting moderate rebels. The two different approaches to the issue slow down the fight against extremism. I, therefore, believe that full restoration of ties will help of major importance in the fight against terrorism.

I also think that Trumps win will make quicker resolution of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Both the Israeli and Palestine top government leaders hailed Trumps win. Specifically, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed hope that peace will be achieved during his term." The impartiality on the Israel-Palestine conflict that characterized Trumps campaign and his pledged to use non-confrontational approaches to dealing with problems means that peace negotiations between the Israel and Palestine can be accelerated under his leadership. This will further help to foster global security, stability, and peace.

Trumps win could also lead to increased threats to security in European countries. In his campaign speeches, the president-elect promised to cut funding towards NATO. In his view, the other member states should increase their financial contribution (the United States currently funds NATO to a tune of 70 percent). If they do not increase the funding, the president-elect promised not to give them automatic protection in the event of an attack. Also, failure of the member states to increase their funding could lead to the United States withdrawal from the organization. Its withdrawal means the end of NATO since the USA is the chief financier. Therefore, if the president-elect keeps his word, insecurity is very likely to increase in European countries due to inadequate funding. The fear of insecurity in Europe following Trumps win has been affirmed by European Council president, Donald Tusk, who has expressed fears about the future of NATO.
