The field of dentistry is a science that comprises of all the components of education ranging from preventive to cosmetic domains. Ethical dilemmas and worries are part of science dentistry as encounters complicated scenarios whereby dentist are expected to make decisions independently with the intention of delivering excellent care to dental patients.
Better dental care should revolve around the direction that facilitates the honesty of health, social moral, emotional and relational. Ethical behavior of dentist is a strong interpersonal procedure whereby people and contextual process features play an essential role. Various Personal factors such as faith, experience skill and environmental factors such as awareness, analysis, and observation influence ethical behaviors. However, there is continuing problem about ethical practices in dental patients. It appears that carrying out ethical behavior with the existence of daily ethical dilemmas is not easy. As such, nearly every decision that is made has moral repercussion to the patient and the entire healthcare system.
Dental patient care always has a moral foundation, and ethical decision-making is a vital component of the dental profession. Some areas revolve around future ethical dilemmas. Many of the challenges that the healthcare system will be related to the overall challenge of balancing quality and safety with efficiency. There is increasing advancement and medicine technology in the health sector that might affect decision-making processes. There is the insufficient allocation of resources to the health care system, lack of evidence-based intervention and changing roles of nurses that will influence ethical dilemmas. Issues that healthcare providers faces during ethical practices are associated with difficulties at workplaces. And with the areas such as advancement in technology among other factors, it becomes harder to realize moral dilemmas and come up with suitable means of solving the ethical dilemmas that individuals such as dentist encounters.
There are unethical behaviors that dentist involve in which might affect their profession as dentists. For instance, a dentist has been found acting in a discriminatory manner while selecting patients for their practices. Also, the ethical considerations among dentist are that they should avoid deserting patients while terminating the dentist-patient relationship through provision patient adequate notice and chance to secure the service of another dentist. Such unethical behavior affects the dentist relationship that the dentist had built with his/her customers hence will not be considered as a regular dentist. The unethical behavior might lead to termination of dentist legal practice certificate. For instance, the dentist is most of the time confused on how to handle issues related to patient records. Patients can take legal option if they realize that a dentist mishandled their information and the court might rule for the patient.
My personal ethics include honesty, loyalty, responsibility among others and this have been influenced by various live events. Various individuals and institution affect my values. To begin with, there are my parents, then closely followed by teachers and religious leaders that have earned my respect. These individuals have groomed me ethically, for instance; my mother taught me to be obedient, educators taught me to consider others opinion while my boss has taught me on how to be punctual to work. Conclusively, different professional faces various ethical dilemmas and the choice that we make in response to such dilemmas serve to determine the moral character of everyone including the dentist.
