I believe that the Bible is the word of God. 2 Timothy 3: 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. I believe that the Bible is a platform that God uses to communicate with man. I believe that writers of the Bible were men, but they were inspired by God. I am of the opinion that the Bible contains instructions that are of utmost importance to Christians who want to live in a manner that pleases God. I believe that the Bible has sixty-six books. I believe that the Bible has stories about men of God, how they lived and what drew them close to God. I believe that faith is the most important aspect that drew Gods men in the Bible close to Him. For instance, Job had unshakeable faith in God. Despite Jobs tribulations, he never stopped having faith in God. As a result, God rewarded Job for exemplifying strong faith. I believe that the Bible has two major sections; the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the Old Testament, God used prophets to communicate with His people. In the New Testament, God uses His son, Jesus Christ to convey his message to His people. The Old Testament details the relationship that God had with the children of Israel from the time they were held in captivity while in Egypt up to the time; they arrived in the Promised Land. The Bible explains creation and existence. The Bible states that God created the heavens, the earth, the sky, the stars, the solar system, planets and everything that exists. Man was created on the sixth day (Holman, 2014).
The God of the Bible is a loving God. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. God is kind to humans and He wants the best for them. God showed his love for humanity by giving his only begotten child to the world so that humanity may not perish but have everlasting life. God has severally tried to redeem his relationship with sinners by giving them many chances to repent and accept him. God is a provider for anyone who requests anything from Him with faith. The Bible says that God is a loving father who cannot give His child a stone when he asks for bread. The Bible states that man should be anxious for nothing but in prayer and supplication, he should make his needs known to God. God is omnipresent; he has been in existence since the beginning of times and He will continue to exist until the end of time. God is omniscient; God is all- knowing. The Bible says that God knew all human beings before their formation in their mothers wombs. There is nothing that can be hidden from God; this is because everything that happens in the world is under Gods watch. God is forgiving; He is always willing to redeem His relationship with mankind. God is all-powerful; there is nothing in this world that can challenge the power of God. Even evil forces have no chance at challenging the power of God. Gods power stretches all over the earth, under the skies and beneath the seas. God is slow to anger and faithful. Exodus 34:6 The LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, is slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. God is merciful. Deuteronomy 4:31- For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath. God is the creator of all life forms. No man can fully comprehend who God is (Jansen, 1994).
Trinity is a tripartite of God, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit . . . All Elements of the Trinity work together. God is the creator of the universe and everything in it. God the Son is Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the power that God uses to influence His will in the world. The Trinity is completeness. Christians believe in the Trinity. Christians pray to God through His son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the bridge that exists between Christians and God. The Holy Spirit is the enforcer of Gods power and will (Moule, 2000). The Trinity is the only perfect thing that exists. I believe that the Holy Spirit guides Christians into righteous living (Ormerod, 2007).
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 1 John 4:15- If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born by a virgin. Matthew 1:23 - Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translates to, God with us. Mary was the mother of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came into the world to repair a broken relationship that existed between humanity and God. Jesus Christ used miracles to reveal the uncontainable and uncontestable powers of God. Jesus Christ healed the sick, brought the dead to life, walked on water, fed a multitude of people using five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus Christ taught the word of God using parables, metaphors, analogies and other literary elements. Jesus Christ exorcised demons. Even though Jesus Christ was crucified, he resurrected and presently sits in heaven with God. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer as Christians. Jesus Christ was sacrificed by God so that the relationship between mankind and Him (God) could be restored. Jesus is alive and his power still reigns (Manson, 1943).
I believe man is a creation of God. Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. I believe that mankinds most important role on earth is to worship and glorify God. I am of the opinion that human beings are the most valued of all Gods creations. Mankind is supposed to take care of animals and the environment as instructed by God. Human beings are supposed to avert environmental problems such as global warming by being more responsible in the way he exploits resources provided to him by God. Man should take part in conservation efforts to ensure that resources provided to him by God are not depleted. Man should make conservation efforts as a way of ensuring that animal and plant species that are at a threat of extinction do not become extinct. Man is meant to get married to one woman. The Bible is against homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Marriage aims to enhance ensure procreation as well as ensure that both woman and man have company so that they do not lead lonely lives. A husband is supposed to provide basic needs as well as security for his family. A wife is supposed to be obedient and submissive to her husband. The Bible forbids defiance and disrespect towards a husband by a wife. A wife is supposed to take care of the home and show hospitality to visitors (Page, 2013).
I believe sin came into the world courtesy of Satan. 1 John 3:8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. By Satan deceiving Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, sin entered into the world. Sin is the cause of all the suffering in the world. Sin distances man from God; sin separates man from God. Sin prevents man from receiving good plans that God has for him. Sin causes disease, depression, anxiety, pain and problems for humanity. Sin causes strife and confusion among human beings. Sin makes man to be absorbed in self- effort when he should be relying on God. Sin stems from desires of the flesh. Man should learn to confess his sins and seek forgiveness from God. God is willing to forgive individuals who ask for forgiveness from Him (Connolly, 2002).
Salvation is the redemption of a lost relationship. When human beings confess their sins, ask for forgives and proclaim Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and accept Him as their savior, they get saved. Salvation implies that a person has left his sinful nature and has become a new creation. As a new creation, salvation expects a person to live righteously. Salvation ensures that human beings have a personal and close relationship with God. Salvation expects saved Christians not to yield to lustful desires of their flesh. Salvation expects human beings to be the salt of the world. Saved people should not conform to patterns and ways of this world; they should be an example to the world about righteous living. Saved people should be at the frontline in spreading the gospel of Christ. Titus 2:11For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people (Green, 2003).
The church is the body of Christ. Romans 12:4-5 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. The church is not necessarily a building. The church is a place of worshiping Jesus Christ. Anybody who allows the Holy Spirit to dwell in him or her is a church (Green, 2008). The Bible encourages Christians to gather because where two or more are gathered in the name of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is in the midst of them. The preaching of the gospel takes place in church. Accepting sinners who have decided to quit their sinful lives is done in the church. Worship is an important aspect that happens in churches. Worship is used to show the affection that Christians have for God. Invoking of the name of Jesus Christ happens during worship times. Preaching is an important element in church. Proclaiming the word of God ensures that Christian ideals and values continuously become inculcated in the minds of Christians. Thanksgiving is an important element in Christian worship. Thanksgiving is an opportunity Christians are given to reveal to the church the goodness of God. Offerings and tithes are involved in the church. Christians are given an opportunity to show their appreciation to the goodness God has done for them through thanksgiving. Offerings and tithes are most of the time used to help the unfortunate in the society as well as support spreading of the gospel (Hinds, 2004).
