Introduction
Over the past years, doubts concerning the use of social media by small business in developing nations have increased especially when it comes to its overall benefits (Majchrzak, Markus, & Wareham, 2016). Most noteworthy, it is of great importance to note that the use of social media for business is constantly increasing in developing nations and remain high in developed nations (Vaishnavi & Kuechler, 2015). On the other hand, individuals who use social media for small business in emerging markets are quickly approaching those of progressive economies. Most importantly, the small business should understand essential strategies behind the use of social media for marketing. Regrettably, most of the small business has no strategy on how to go about or begin utilizing social media such as Facebook, Twitter and many more (Dwivedi, et al., 2015).
There exist many research questions that be developed but these papers mention only two. It includes the effect of social media marketing especially for small business as well as challenges and opportunities for social media for small business in emerging markets (Wu, Straub, & Liang, 2015). The three theories that can be used for this research in management information systems are the actor-network theory, strategic organization approach as well as the capability approach (Nevo, Nevo, & Pinsonneault, 2016).
Actor-network theory is methodological as well as methodological approach especially to social theory that claims that the relationship between social and natural world is constantly changing (Goes, 2014; Pare et al., 2015; & Rivard, 2014). On the other hand, strategic organization approach involves publishing of high quality discipline-grounded conceptual and empirical work, especially from peer-reviewed sources (Urquhart & Fernandez, 2016). Last but least, a capability approach is a form of the theoretical framework based on the claim that freedom to attain well-begin is the main moral significance and secondly, to understand these morals based on individuals capabilities (Abbasi, Sarker, & Chiang, 2016).
