This article deals with Christianity and End of the World. Christians believe that the end times are nearing and there are signs to know that the World is coming to an end as per the Bible. Appearance of a black moon is rare but when it happened on Friday, most theorists believed that it was a sign of the end of the world. Christians were ready for the second coming of Christ as it is believed to be a sign of end times. Christians were criticized by critics on how their beliefs are biased as they fully endorse astrology and planetary predictions. According to critics, The Black Moon occurs once in every 32 months and that it is nothing but a new moon. They claim that if the Black Moon had any connection to End Times, then it means that Christ could be appearing on earth every now and then. Christians have strong belief in the Bible citing verses on astrological signs of the coming of Christ. According to the Bible such signs are the blue moon, black moon and the blood moon. Critics say there is nothing special about these phenomenons as they have always been occurring.
Christianity is a religion that relies and deeply believes in the Bible as a guide. The Bible is the handbook and everyday manual for all Christians. Christians believe in the origin of the Universe to be created by God in seven days so do they believe in the End of the World as Christs second coming. Christians are taught that Christ will return and reign eternally. Different beliefs differ on how the end of the world will happen. Some of the Christians do not emphasize on the end times although they have knowledge about it. They mostly focus on what Jesus said that no one can know the day or the hour (Matthew 25). Such Christians include liberal Protestants, Orthodox Christians in the U.S and Catholics. However, evangelical Protestants put emphasis on the specific ideas about the end of the World. They are certain that there are events that must happen before Jesus return and some of the events are alredy happening. Some of the events or signs or end of the World are; Famine, Earthquakes, Wars and rumors of war, false prophets and hardening of hearts. As predicted by the Prophets, there will be appearance of the blood moon, blue moon or the black moon. Christians strive to stay ready all the time for this day. These days are commonly known as the Rapture where believers in Christ will be caught up into the air to meet Christ (Thessalonians 4: 13).
Some evangelists in the past have made publicity campaigns claiming the specific day that the world would come to an end. Harold Camping of Family Radio spend more than $100 million creating awareness to people that the World would end on May 21, 2011 at 6 p.m. Fortunately or unfortunately, the world did not end on that day. Skeptics, evangelicals and atheists from all over the world have made jokes about him and his misguided calculations. The failure of this non- Rapture saw most of the American Evangelicals as quacks and nuts. Such occasions have happened and when the outcomes are not as expected, there is a low opinion about Evangelical Christians as well as Christianity as a whole. Most people have said that such events are the reasons why evangelical Christians do not receive much respect. In addition to the signs of end times, the antichrist is believed to appear. Many believe that he is the enemy who will appear at the end times and take over the world pretending to be Christ and performing miracles. He is said to already exist in this World just that we have not recognized him. It is believed that the antichrist is an institution not an individual. According to one modern writer (2002), antichrist will rise to be the leader of a European super state, create peace negotiations on Israel get killed and then resurrected. Eventually the leader will win the Nobel Peace Prize and get a great title as the Man of the Year. After all these victories, he will pose as God and take control of the world. The Black Moon as mentioned in the article in one of the sign of end times according to Christians but not all religions agree with it.
In reviewing this article, I found out that it did not clearly explain how the Black Moon is a sign of End of the World. It did not give details of the chapter and verses in the Bible that quote about the Black Moon. As mentioned in the above paragraphs, there are other signs of the Rapture that are explained and even quoted. The research I conducted in the second paragraph show some of the signs during the end times that are quoted from the Bible. In regards to the third paragraph where Evangelical Christians are considered to be nuts, I am against campaigns and public announcements on when Christ is coming back. Although the jokes made on Camping were disrespectful, there are also nuts and deserve to be made fun of. As clearly indicated in the Bible, no one knows the hour or the day, then why claim that the World is coming to an end on May 21, 2011?
