Introduction
Administrative medical assistance is profession who is responsible for the management of the front desk operations in most medical facilities like hospitals and also physician's office so as all medical personnel like the doctor feel free when providing medical attention and provide the highest standard of care to the patients. The administrative medical assistant should not be confused with another medical profession because they are trained professions who work in the place where their role requires which is to provide customer service when they are working with different patients and even the administration support for all the medical facilities. The HIPAA and the JICHO mandate administrative medical assistant, and they should all be updated with all the changes of the policies and regulations which regard the storage, the collection and also how sensitive data of a patient is dismissed. They have the responsibility for a multitude of errands that include talking to patients, and also planning arrangements, they should also know electronic therapeutic coding, they also document an insurance policy and also keep the record of all documents. Hence, they are crucial to providing support service in health care provision.
Idea Characteristics of Administrative Medical Assistants
The reason I choose the career is the fact I feel I have the ideal characteristics because I'm very interactive. Administrative medical assistants spend most of the working days having general interactions with the patients and all the medical pieces of stuff. Administrative medical assistants deal with all sorts of character from moody patients to busy physicians or even when other insurance companies are not compromising and stress is one thing that the profession requires one to handle. The career requires individual with multitasking abilities and one who can handle a large amount of data. The career in the administration is a career that has a very challenging working environment at the same time the pay is excellent. This is why I considered choosing the career because my aggressive and passionate at work. And it is important to note that those who have highly qualified in the field must have a high level of calmness and clearheaded considering the overwhelming multitasking of the tasks.
Skill Needed
It is ideal for one to understand the skills which are most essential in the profession. The Administrative medical assistants are a very professionally skilled individual who is best suited for their job condition and they have related knowledge from the training the acquired. Form on to be an Administrative medical assistant he must be very good at communication and spell out proper grammar which is not hard to understand. They should have vast knowledge of computer skills and especially creating spreadsheets and word processing. They should also be good at handling different documents because most of the time they handle billings and also light bookkeeping's. They should be comfortable to store receipt and also money. They should also be very familiar with the medical code of ethics, all insurance billing processes and all the leading software which are most commonly used in medical facilities.
Nature of Work
Administrative medical assistants work at least 40 hours a week. Depending on practice they can work at any time of the day. They perform most of the clerical job which is required to keep any medical facility up and running. They fill out all the insurance form hence they have to be familiar with the companies. They also have the mandate to schedule patient admission.
Educations Requirements and Training
Various medical assistant training programs can prepare you for becoming a professional in Administrative medical assistants. Administrative medical assistants require an accredited by CAAHEP body and also the ABHES. They career require proper comprehensive in medical technology, kinesiology and have an understanding of the human body structure and healthcare information management. Medical ethics are also essential.
Job Search
it was beneficial I helping the acquired variety of job from my profession. On my job search, I found more than five job opportunity ranging from the full-time job on home health administration. I also found practice administration at one of the hospitals from my home place. The career builder website had a medical administrative assistant which I had met all the job requirements. The companies required an Administrative medical assistant where similar as they mostly required one to have an experience in the medical environment before and should have also worked in a medical office before. The job required an individual with the skill similar to an Administrative medical assistant in the aspect that he will be mandated to enter various medical data used form the all the nurse's assessment. The candidate was also required to be very reliable, flexible and was also supposed to manage all the tracking systems. They also required a candidate with more knowledge of almost all medical terminology. The only difference I saw was that not all jobs are full time. Some Administrative medical assistant jobs are worked to contract bases. The beacon hill company was more concerned with an Administrative medical assistant who has excellent working skills and can handle any pressure that may come. They were more focused on experience from the candidate.
