Introduction
Healthcare organizations frequently perform initiatives leading to performance improvement to enhance patient experiences, clinical outcomes and lower organizational costs. When these efforts become not sufficiently executed, they may become a significant consuming a lot of time, resources and money leading to less sustainable improvements. A system of health care that is sustainable has typically three major attributes: affordability, acceptability, and adaptability. Affordability generally affects patients and their families. Acceptability s rendered as a significant constituent of a sustainable healthcare system which affects health professionals and patients. According to Fineberg, (2012), adaptability constituent of healthcare system deprives that the needs of healthcare should not be static hence healthcare system should respond adaptively to the new diseases, scientific discoveries, dynamic technologies, and changing demographics for them to maintain viability.
One step which leads to performance improvement in the health care system is the integration of performance improvement into the system's strategic objectives. Healthcare system is an adaptive and complex system whereby the relationships and interactions of various components are simultaneously affected and shaped by the health system. Therefore, it is vital to have performance improvement become integrated within the strategic objectives of the healthcare organization. Such strategic goals like becoming an accountable healthcare organization, concentrating on the population health management, all need performance enhancement for the system to be successful. Integrating performance improvement also assist in avoiding wasting of effort, money, and time on the programs which can result to little overall benefits.
Performance improvements require the use of an analytic system which integrates the data sources of an organization and which offers easy and quick data sharing. It is only by having appropriate analytics which may help health healthcare organization to identify particular areas of opportunity which are among the strategic areas of focus. Methods for system optimization may be utilized in comparing the impacts of various resources configuration and the potential implications on accessing healthcare (Branas, Wolff, Williams, Margolis, & Carr, 2013). These methods mainly help in determining the allocation of optimal resources which get applied to several domains such as patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research.
Nurses who are striving to improve their performance in the health care system need to focus on enhancing their interpersonal skills and clinical skills. The patients require knowing that nurses are caring about them. It is up to nurses to ensure that they have dignity and respect for the patients they are attending to. Therefore, focusing on connection and communication helps the nurses and other healthcare practitioners to approach patients in a friendly and calm manner.
Professional education in nursing refers to the process through which individuals prepare for responsible, exacting professional service in the spirit of their profession. The foundation of professional training in nursing requires not to be only involving technical skills but also include developing the concept of social responsibility. Providing professional education in nursing consists in educating the professionals that they should strive to practice a high level of responsibility and selflessness which they may be trusted for them to work conscientiously. In case of an individual profession fails to perform their duties with sufficient conscientiousness or skills, then their colleagues have the responsibility of undertaking appropriate regulatory action.
Professional education assists in opening up of the community and establishing a society which is true knowledge-based via engaging society as the whole.

In conclusion, performance improvement and professional education are essential aspects of nursing education. Performance improvement helps in implementing and making sure that there are measurements on maximum patient safety in place which result in appreciative and proper patient safety. Professional education in nursing helps in shifting of paradigms from individual economic profitability, competitiveness and short-term focus to become collective.
