Introduction

Back in high school, there were days I was unjustly judged because I was a bit different from the rest. Throughout my life, I have always had this big body that exists even today. Most of the time my attire was also different than what my friends were wearing. Moreover, in the midst of our small group, I was the only one who listened to reggae music where the rest grew up listening to music that correlates with their language. Since my childhood, I always dressed and did things differently from the rest, and this made it difficult for me to join some groups because I feared that the other kids would be disgusted with my body, style including my choice of music.

Am still a husky person up to date but am trying to reduce my weight because in today's society I discovered that unless you are average or thin, you are never accepted. Having such thoughts have even made me less happy where my appearance and weight has at some point hindered the better days of my life. In our country, various adverts concerning obese have worsened my situation. Usually, I hated when people judged me because of my physical looks especially the time while I was in high school. This is because most of the time I had adverse reactions and became a 'tough guy.' Eventually, I began wearing loose clothes which also made everyone to be against my dressing code. The pants I wore were also very baggy as compared to my classmates who were wearing preppy clothes.

When I joined college, I also changed my clothes to match what college students wore. I began wearing shorts that had a ghetto look, but they went past my knees. I copied this style from an African American teen because we used to hang out together. Whenever someone commented about my looks, I usually got furious to the point that I did childish things that even made people judge me more. Since I was a fan of reggae music, I had to change so that I could fit with what we hear at school or parties we attended. I even remember one of my friends asking me, "Why do you listen to such music?" I told him that, "Since most of the time I was wrongly judged, I found myself listening to reggae music." While reggae has remained my best lyrics, I also listen to techno and house music.

The funniest thing is that most kids that used to judge me negatively now hang out with me and also listen to reggae music. To be honest, being unfairly judged used to dampen my mood because they made me feel as if I was on the wrong. But at my age, I have not received judgment unfairly because most of the time I care less if anyone had a problem with my weight. Moreover, the majority of my friends have also matured, but still, make jokes about my outfits, and this makes me laugh. I believe that people who judge you are very shallow especially when they find out you are a heavy person who wears oversized clothes. The situation remains the same for individuals who don't have the desired body weights. Even though I was unfairly judged while I was young, I still do the same things. However, since I still have shallow friends, I might think of losing more weight because being unfairly judges makes one feel bad.
