Introduction
The health care system and the health labor markets is a sector that is comparatively affected by market forces, just like any other system. In every area of the economy, the effects of demand and supply are subject to the value of money that the spender wants. People often are willing to spend in what is convenient to them in terms of the economic feasibility of the product or the service and the value they get from the quality of the product and the service (Musgrave, 2015). In the case study Vila Health, Sharing Electronic Health Records, the predominant market forces at play is technology, patient safety, quality care, and customer satisfaction, employee working hours, legal requirements and diversification of services.
The U.S health care system is affected by the market forces in several ways. Technology enables the health care system to have advanced machines in the health care and proper record keeping of medical information. This leads to better quality care for the patients, and therefore, their safety is enhanced. The customers get satisfied with the services and get quality for their money. The market forces that mostly affect HIM is the employee working hours where the medical caregivers have sufficient time to work and also have time for other personal commitments The salaries they are paid also affect how they work in that, a stable income motivates them to give a better quality health care.
Market Forces and HIM
The healthy labor market sector in the case study involves Doctor Newcomb and Ned Landers, a pharmacist. Using the market forces identified, the health labor market force that is, the doctor and the pharmacist provide quality care and thus patient safety. They also used the information they had to counsel the patient and ensure that his condition improved.
The doctor first, effectively used technology is testing the patient. Sample blood was taken from the patient and the health care machines used to determine the disease that he was suffering from. In terms of quality care, the doctor first engages the patient in explaining the health conditions, and providing a prescription, giving the repercussions on the event he ignored the treatment. The pharmacist also takes care of the safety of the patient by telling him the effects of using Metformin and Tagamet at the same time. They were also careful to ensure that what they were doing in terms of sharing info ration was legal, by consulting with their heads.
The HIM professionals in this case study that is, the doctor and the pharmacist can improve on the market forces in a better way. They can first update the technology they are using, for example, the security of the information system if sharing the patients' health information (Amick, McLeod & Bultmann, 2016). They can have training where they learn and remind themselves of the legal requirements of their profession so that they do not misuse office when it comes to handling patients.
To improve the quality of care and the safety of the patient, it is recommended that health care create a communication system with the patient to check on their progress and offer to advise whenever needed. They are to also work together with the pharmacist by, for example, giving all the factual information of the health condition of the patient so that the pharmacist can provide the best treatment. It is also recommended that they have a legal consultant in the health sector to advise them on what they do so that it will be within the scope of the requirements of the government.
Market Forces and Health Care Professionals
The health care professional affected in the case study by the identified market forces and the allied health worker included a doctor, the lab technician, record keeper, a pharmacist, Doctor Newcomb's assistant, and the legal team. The medical laboratory technician takes a test of Vargas and gives to Doctor Newcomb, who interprets the results and explains the condition of Vargas. The record keeper, Mrs. Wong, provides the information to the pharmacist, Ned Landers, who provides a prescription treatment and the drugs needed for the patient. The allied health worker includes the pharmacist, Doctor Newcomb's assistant, and the legal team.
Market Forces and Integrations Among Health Care Professionals
The Him professionals in the case study worked together with other health care professionals differently to execute their duties to the patient. Doctor Newcomb works with the medical lab technician to find the results of the patient and interpret it. After seeing the disease the patients suffer from, Doctor Newcomb gives the information to the record keeper, Mrs. Wong. The personal assistant of Doctor Newcomb gets the data and takes it to Ned Landers who prescribe treatment to the patient. Doctor Newcomb also consults the legal team on the legality of the sharing of information whit the pharmacist and the securities needed to be applied.
These Him professionals could improve the interactions in different ways, depending on the level of care quality they want to provide. It is recommended that they get a legal issue allowing the doctor to disclose all the necessary patient information to the pharmacist for between treatments (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne, 2018). The different doctors should also work together to ensure that the medication they prescribe to the patient follows the previous one given by the other doctor.
It is recommended that a robust direct communication system is created between the hospital and the pharmacist. For example, the doctors can have the pharmacy inside the premises of the hospital so that communicating will be more comfortable. It is also recommended that they all have occasional training where everyone will be given a chance to provide the specific requirements that they have from each other.
