Introduction
There are many illegal immigrants in the United States, and the number is increasing daily. There have been protests by the illegal immigrants where they want to be given the necessary documents as a recognition that they are citizens of the United States. Lack of the required documents makes the illegal immigrants face challenges whenever they are accessing various challenges provided by the state. There are many contributions made by the illegal immigrants that need to be considered and make the United States consider to give them the documents that they required to become fully documented illegal immigrants of the United States. The documentation will have a positive impact in general because the illegal immigrants will be able to participate in activities of building the economy and the overall United States in general.
Among the positive impacts of the documentation of the illegal immigrants include the increase in the availability of labor that will, in turn, reduce the production costs (Peri 8). Many illegal immigrants have skills but cannot be employed because they lack the necessary legal documents required for employment. The documentation of illegal immigrants will lead to a boom of people searching for jobs. Companies will be able to reduce the expenses that they incur on labor hence increasing their profit margin (Peri 12). This will have a positive impact on the economy because the company will have more money to spend. There are also companies that suffer from lack of skilled labor; they will benefit and operate to their full capacity.
Illegal immigrants need to be documented because when they are successfully employed, they will spend their income hence contributing to the growth of the economy (Peri 14). Many illegal immigrants struggle to make ends meet because they do not have a secure source of income. After the documentation, they will be able to secure jobs and have many to spend. The illegal immigrants will also be taxed contributing to the development of the country and the economy by the government. The illegal jobs and activities that they engage in to earn income are not taxed; hence, the government ends up losing taxes. The state should consider giving the illegal immigrants documents to facilitate their employability and be taxed by the state.
The increased spending of illegal immigrants will also lead to the creation of more companies to produce consumer goods and meet the rising demand (Yoshida 40). The company will also need employees; hence, the economy will expand as more companies enter the market to meet the demands. The economy will grow as more people, including the locals get employed, and the economy will expand. The long term benefit of the economy is that it will expand to accommodate more people and more activities that they engage in. The economy will also be sustainable when it expands to accommodate more people. The spending also increases the circulation of money, which is essential for the stabilization and growth of the economy.
Some illegal immigrants have ideas and would like to open their own companies but cannot do without the documents (Yoshida 41). When given the documents, they can open up companies that can transform the economy of the United States. According to a survey done in 2011 (Costa, David, and Heidi), there are many illegal immigrants that open and run successful companies in the United States. This is a clear indication that if illegal immigrants are given the opportunity, they can form companies that will pay taxes and employ more people. There are ideas that illegal immigrants might be having that can change the economy of the United States to greater heights; hence, they need to be given the opportunity through the documentation.
The negative side of documentation of illegal immigrants in the United States is that they will increase the population that the state has to provide services to (Amadeo). There are services that citizens of the United States get from the state, therefore, documenting the illegal immigrants will mean that the state has to recognize them and give them the services adding the budget of the state. The argument of adding more expenses to the state by through the documentation of the illegal immigrants is not valid. The illegal immigrants will be paying taxes to the state through the activities that they engage in, and therefore, there are no additional expenses to the state. There are many avenues for the state to get tax from the illegal immigrants when they become citizens hence no additional costs. The state needs to consider the benefits it will get an improvement of the economy to give the illegal immigrants relevant documents.
Documentation of illegal immigrants will promote the relations of the people living in the United. Majority of the illegal immigrants have family members who are legal American citizens. The illegal immigrants need to have equal opportunities with others so that they have equal opportunities. Lack of documentation makes them be denied opportunities even when they have the necessary skills and competence to exploit the opportunities. Companies and organizations are denied the chance the hire competent people with relevant skills. It's against the law for companies to hire illegal immigrants without the relevant papers; hence, in such scenarios, they end up hiring incompetent people.
Some illegal immigrants are looking for areas to invest their money because of the various issues such as political instability (Costa, David, and Heidi). Such illegal immigrants can help in improving the economy when given a chance to become an American citizen. The illegal immigrants do not have the right to own property and businesses in the United States unless they have relevant documents. Such illegal immigrants lack the opportunity to invest their money because they are not allowed to own property. The illegal immigrants have the opportunity to improve the economy of the United States when they start to invest. Several sectors of the economy will benefit when illegal immigrants spend their money.
Illegal Immigrants contain new ideas from their home countries that they can use in identifying opportunities in business that exist. There are challenges that the people face, and illegal immigrants have solutions to, but they cannot implement the ideas (Wallace). Allowing illegal immigrants to get the documents that make them American citizens will enable them to implement the ideas and solve challenges that the people have. The illegal immigrants provide ideas that locals do not have when it comes to solving challenges that the people face and the state in general. Illegal immigrants should be allowed to implement the ideas that they have to solve the challenges facing the people through proper documentation. Illegal immigrants need to be allowed to participate in the development of the country through legal, economic activities participation. The economy of the United States continues to suffer due to lack of support by the illegal immigrants not recognized by the law.
The majority of the illegal immigrants that come to the United States are young people, and therefore the state can come up with ways of engaging them in activities that are productive and earn income to the state (Ferriss). The policies that the state can use is re-exporting their labor for mutual benefit between the state and the illegal immigrants. The state engages in foreign activities that require human labor; hence using the illegal immigrants can help to reduce the deficit. Activities such as fighting terrorism use a huge budget, using illegal immigrants from those countries can help the state because illegal immigrants can help the state in their countries of origin. The external expenditure by the state has been growing over the years affecting the economy and need to be regulated.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the contributions made by illegal immigrants play a significant role in supporting the economy of the United States through the various activities that they engage in. The state needs to consider the decision of documenting illegal immigrants to make them become American citizens. The documentation will make them able to participate in various economic activities that will earn income to the state. The documentation will enable illegal immigrants to engage in economic activities that will contribute to the growth of the economy of the United States. The economy will expand and become more diversified.
