In your article Perspectives for NATO-Russia Relations you present the view that the agreement made by Russia and NATO to establish a strategic partnership by 2010 based on mutual trust, realization of shared interests and respect for agreed principles such as the Charter of Paris for a New Europe has been neglected as a result of future foresight. You give a blatant explanation on one of its impact that entailed the suspension of negotiations and collaboration in 2014 with the explanation that NATO responded to the illegal annexation of Crimea and weakening of the eastern part of Ukraine by Russia by which NATO immobilized the collaboration among the civilians and the military present in the NRC (Klein & Major, 2015).

In support of the suspension, the article highlights that before the immobilization, there were strategies aimed at building confidence in the cooperation that include practical collaboration and defense dogmas. The example given on the collaboration includes the training of staff in Afghanistan on counter-narcotics. The article also highlights NATOs effort of engaging in a political convo with Moscow regardless of its criticisms. In relation to the dialogues, the article also mentions the failure of the lines used in the channels associated with the ambassadorial levels that were put up in April 2014 by which the NRC intervened only once. The article highlights the development of former threat views, the loss of trust and the failure of the practical cooperation as the major impacts of the suspension by which the affected areas include the Russian government and several parts of Eastern and central Europe. The article highlights the fact that the suspension of the cooperation poses a security threat which may result in dangerous consequences.

The article highlights three scenarios that might take place because of lack of collaboration between NATO and Russia. The first scenario is Confrontation with strong potential for escalation (Klein & Major, 2015) with the view that lack of trust may spring tension from a militaristic perspective. The presence of nuclear weapons from both sides illustrate the possibility of these occurrence in addition to the presence of hybrid weapons in Moscow. The second scenario that the article highlights is Contained confrontation (Klein & Major, 2015) with the view that there is no hope in the establishment of the collaboration but rather occurrence of strategies that assist in maintaining both parties. The third scenario entails pragmatic partnership (Klein & Major, 2015) with the view that despite the conflict escalating, the parties are willing to present the issues that affect them (Klein & Major, 2015).

The fact that the article uses primary evidence on the events that have taken place in association with the collaboration makes the authors viewpoints blatant. The article presents analytical views on the possible scenarios that might take place as a result of the lack of collaboration between Russia and NATO; an agreement that had been made before for the two parties to work together. From a personal perspective, the scenarios are possible based on the reasoning provided by the article. However, it seems illogical to perceive that the lack of trust might result in conflict just because both countries possess nuclear weapons. After the cold war, both parties have existed quite well and hence establishing the collaboration by 2010 does not imply that conflicts will arise or rather lack of understanding. From a personal perspective, it is not a must to have a body illustrating the collaboration between both parties but instead, the parties should continue working together while focusing on the progress of their regions.
