This paper explains my nursing evolution in the fundamental of nursing in this rotation. It helps in understanding the various aspect that will form a crucial part of my nursing career in the future. It includes the factor such as the basic understanding of the level of care the patient nee, the history of nursing, therapeutic care, a well a the communication required in the field. Although there were numerous teachings drawn from the fundamental of nursing, I will explain the three basic teaching I got from the fundamental of nursing in this rotation.

In my clinical career, I believe that my growth in the field of nursing will be dependent on three crucial elements that I learned from the fundamental of nursing. The factor includes understanding therapeutic communication, the nursing process, and the history of nursing.

The first teaching involves therapeutic communication, which forms a crucial element of compassion and cares toward the patient. It explains the role of understanding culture and age in helping the communication between the nurse and the patient. Therapeutic communication involves the nurse acting a the source of comfort and information to their patient. Therapeutic communication includes the use of both verbal and facial expression in establishing a healing relationship between the patient an the nurse healthily using empathy Arnold and Boggs, 2015). It also helps in understanding the three phase of therapeutic communication and the role they play in understanding the problem of the patient and the possible solution. The stage includes introductory, working, a termination.

In nest teaching in the fundamental of nursing involve the history of nursing. In this section, I learned about the contribution of Florence Nightingale in the field of nursing. The central element is the importance of sanitary care a taught by Florence Nightingale in the 1850s. It further explains the role played by the civil war between 1860 to 1865 that require the inclusion of female nurse to tend to the wound of the injure and the foundation of the American red cross (Sitzman, 2017). It also helped demonstrate the role of Nightingale in the establishment of nursing training schools and the subsequent improvement in the hospital-based care. It helps me understand the points that are crucial to the understanding of the evolution of nursing as a field. It helps create the focus on the patient care and assessments. Learning the influence of Florence Nightingale on nursing forms an integral part of the history of nursing as a field.

The last element is the nursing process that is important when caring for patients. It involves the five steps that are systematic in nature, that help in solving problems. The nursing process is crucial to me because it helps me to obtain both objective and subjective information that is crucial to the determination of the health care problem. It is essential to understand the five steps of the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The assessment is the part of the process that helps in the formulation of the diagnosis through analysis of observation of the sign, symptoms, and the problem the patient is experiencing (Potter et al., 2016). The second step is the diagnosis that involves the statement of the problem based on the signs and symptoms of the patient. In the nest phase, the nurse helps to plan for the patient intervention and care. In the implementation phase, it helps me understand the establishment of the time frame that the patient will require to meet the goals and interventions that have been identified. It involves using rationale to explain the diagnoses further scientifically. The last step is called evaluation and is the completion of the nursing care plan that consists of the evaluation of the patient's response to the previous actions.

Conclusion

In summation, the lessons on the history of nursing, the process of nursing care, and therapeutic communication help me understand the scope of nursing. They will eventually help me expand my career in being the best nurse.
