In the presentations that are routinely carried out in schools, the senior centres and the local groups the main aim of the nurses is usually in explaining proper nutrition, to demonstrate effective and safe health practices and advocate for early detection or diagnosis of the common diseases by educating them on the symptoms and also enlighten the community and family members on how to take care for the disabled or the ill (Carabez 2014).

It's also the duty of nurses in low income and rural communities to avail critical health care services like immunisation of children, pentanal advisory and how to take care of their newborn (Carabez 2014).
