Introduction
Depression is a feeling that an individual can possess where one feels sad and loss of delight continuously for quite sometimes. When one has this type of disorder, an individual doesn't take enjoyment on former things which were worth enjoyment (Owora, Carabin, Reese & Garwe, 2016). Depression is curable, and the early it is tackled the earlier it is treated efficiently. There are various ways of treating depression disorder. However, its treatments options go with the type of depression; it is as diagnosed by a physician (Acharya et al., 2015). The results will lead to the type of treatment to be administered. Therefore, the treatment can either be through; psychotherapy and the medication or even both of them. There are types of psychological treatment of depression. This type of treatment is the most paramount type of treatment and most useful, it includes; the cognitive behavioral therapy, problem-solving therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy and also short-time psychodynamic therapy (Karyotaki et al., 2016).
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a type of treatment where it is focused much on particular problems. It involves identifying specific problems which cause depression and eliminating them. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a combination of two methods of treatment involving cognitive therapy, which mainly explains how ones' thoughts can cause depression, thus giving a way to keep away from the thoughts which cause depression. Then the other is behavior therapy, which also goes deep in identifying the behaviors in an individual, which causes depression and ruling them out. The combination of these two methods too; cognitive-behavioral therapy, therefore, becomes very effective in treating depression. The National Alliance for Mental Illness is an alliance formed in the United States specifically designed to help the Americans with the mental disorders and keep them on the way to their goals (Toohey, Muralidharan, Medoff, Lucksted & Dixon, 2016)
There are other methods too for treating depression, that is, through medication. It involves administering drugs to the patients, mainly to ease the symptoms. The drugs are on various types depending on one's diagnosis by the doctor. The most used drug for depression is Antidepressants, which boosts the feelings or the temper that one has due to depression (Duman, Aghajanian, Sanacora & Krystal, 2015). The drugs lengthen the mind's way of working without causing depression by influencing chemicals like Serotonin and therefore, acting as a treatment method for depression. Apart from medication, there are other treatment approaches to depression, for example, community support and involuntary treatment. This involves offering opportunities to the affected, for instance, setting apart a particular job for the depressed, providing them with proper education and also pieces of training plus working closely with them since it is perfect for them thus treat them.
Much research done indicates that those two methods, including involuntary treatment, is fundamental and saves the affected a great deal. They recommend since sometimes the depressed might be in a grave situation; thus, this method plays a central position in treating depression. Research has shown that they are such effective ways of treating depression by retrieving lost mood, doing away with the unbecoming behavior, which might cause depression. Some methods like involuntary treatment are also crucial since it saves a life which would have been lost instead since sometimes the depression might be so severe, and the affected might be unconscious thus needs force treatment.
The medication method and also the other treatments methods play a very significant part of curing depression, and all are important since they all end up removing one from depression. However, medication is not such effective since they don't work in all patients, but in some, it can fail unlike Psychotherapy fits all and also no research has proved the chemicals responsible with depression thus there is no specific drug to tackle depression but only to ease its state.
