Horseback riding is one of the sports activities enjoyed by many families and youths. I have always been captivated by horseback riding as a recreational activity as it seems one of the fascinating experiences enjoyed by many. I was looking for some of the most enjoyable recreation activities one can do with their friends one afternoon, and when I thought of going to horseback ride in New York for the time in my life, I was very delighted. I immediately begin looking for relevant information on some of the New York City's parks where I could enjoy riding on the horseback. I then secured some tour guide maps and books trying to find an ideal park for this activity.
Using different tour guide books and magazines I settled on visiting Pelham Bay Park where they offered horse riding activity. Pelham Bay Park is considered a municipal park positioned in the North East corner of the New York City of Bronx District. I found that Pelham Bay Park is the largest Public Park in New York City. Since it was going to be just one day adventure, I visited their websites and got updated on some of the events that were most likely to take place. I could not wait to see myself riding a horse and have that thrilling experience for the first time
Having known my final destination, the first thing I needed was to plan and decide which day to depart for the long-anticipated experience. I checked on their website for prices and schedules, their rides were carried out in small groups. I immediately informed my two friends of my plan and they agreed to accompany me. It was going to be the most exciting experience ever, I immediately booked the next day bus. My friends came over to help me planning on our total expenses we were going to incur. One hour ride in Pelham Bay Park per person was one hundred and forty-nine dollars. We were going to use my family van and this reduced our expense a little bit. We immediately chose our travel rout to reach by the stipulated time at the park and in accordance with the park's horse riding schedule. Additionally, we made our reservations online in advance since we chose our preferred tack.
My friends come over to pick me and we left our apartment at New York City Centre west 55th street at nine in the morning. It was around one hour drive to Pelham Bay Park from our apartment. We used our van as planned to reduce traveling expense and save time as it was very necessary to arrive early. From our apartments, we got on rout I-87 S in Bronx from Central Park West and Madison Ave, after traveling for about thirty-three minutes we again took route I-278 E and I-95 N to your Pelham Bay Park. We then took the fifth exit from Hutchinson River Pkwy N, and upon reaching the traffic circle, we again took the second exit onto Orchard Beach Rd up to the park. Since our timing was perfect, we did not experience any difficulty as a result of roadblocks.
We arrived at ten in the morning. The park had some of the amazing scenes I had never seen before. At the entrance, we were welcomed by one of the friendliest staff and we were directed to the parking lot. Its' beautiful sceneries, the quiet green shade of oak forests among other vast rich beauty of nature thrilled us giving us assurance that we were going to have one of the spectaculars adventures than never before. We were given our guide to stay with us the whole ride as we were not allowed to ride alone. Additionally, horses were not allowed to trot on the bridle paths for the safety of pedestrians within the park. We were given helmets and safety boots and other horse riding gears for safety purpose. We rode through different horse riding tracks as we strolled around the park taking photographs and videos during the whole event.
Upon reaching home I could not wait to text and share my first time horseback riding experience in New York at Pelham Bay Park with my sisters and friends who didn't get that opportunity to go with us. It was a nice experience I could not forget enjoying horseback riding. I emailed my friends sharing my first time horseback riding experience in Pelham Bay Park. I sent them some of our photographs, videos, and slides I made of different horseback riding experiences we had. We shared nice experience stories among my friends in our social media groups and we could not wait to have the same experience and adventure again.
Horseback riding as a recreation comes with its advantages that are very beneficial to our health and social life development in general. It increases our social bonding as it strengthens relationships between friends and families (Schneider, Ingrid E. et al., 282-286). Going out riding horse increase our physical activity making us feel better and refreshed after the activity. Grasping outdoor skills while doing horse riding gives an opportunity for one to develop and improve self-esteem. If I could, therefore, recommend horseback riding as one of the best recreational activity to someone who has never done it before, I could assure them to give it a shot as it is one of the best experience that comes with a huge package of benefits to our life. Since it is an isometric exercise, it enables us to build our core strength, balance, and coordination (Schneider, Ingrid E. et al., 282-286).
