Introduction
As a result of snacking every time, I overeat and even afraid that these might be signs of binge eating disorders. Moreover, am addicted to eating junk especially the consumption of fries and different forms of meat and it has become a bad personal behavior as am not able to prepare meals at home but also extend the eating practice to the workplace and social events. The consumption of junk food every time affects the ability to delay gratification as I cannot resist doing so and this form of indiscipline has had extended to other aspects of my life as being highly impatient. Moreover, the addiction to junk food predisposes one to lose connection to the body's satisfaction signals and natural hunger leading to extra pounds which are unhealthy and that can lead to lifestyle oriented diseases as junk foods have large amounts of harmful ingredients.
Influence on Health and Fitness
The excess consumption of food surpassing the body's energy requirements results in gaining unnatural weight; moreover, it affects the body's hunger rhythm in that food gets ingested despite not being hungry. The addiction to junk affects nutrition in that the body becomes stacked with unhealthy saturated fats, of blood sugar, and refined carbohydrates with little nutritional value. Moreover, the acquired excessive weight puts a lot of stress on the muscles as you as the body struggles to carry its weight resulting to getting tired quickly, laziness to do physical exercises, muscular and joint pains and irritation. In fact, according to Ekkekakis, and Lind (2006), doing physical tasks is not the same when you are overweight since the lower physical activity adherence rates in comparison to normal-weight individuals is a result of it being more tiring and less pleasant (Ekkekakis & Lind, 2006). Furthermore as going to the gym requires being pushed to the limit, overweight individuals find it difficult to cope when getting fit is imposed rather than intrinsically motivated.
Solutions and Techniques To Stop the Behavior
Psychology has a role to play in shifting to a healthier lifestyle; as a result, meditation comes to play as it would facilitate the identification of underlying issues that lead to overeating. Stress is a predisposing factor to overeating in that when annoyed the individual finds solace in eating despite not being full. Besides that by taking new habits, it would become easy to replace the old ones, for example despite the rigors of doing physical exercise, doing ten pushups for every chicken wing eaten will wire the neural system to focus more on doing the activity rather than eating. Also by shifting to vegetarianism the addition to meaty products would stop.
Health Risks
The consumption of junk predisposes one to severe health risk through increased vulnerability to lifestyle diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and cancer, nonetheless, with shifting to a healthier lifestyle the chances would get reduced. When meat; pork, beef, fish; is prepared using high-temperature methods, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and Heterocyclic amines get formed, and these two chemicals cause mutations in the human DNA increasing risks of cancers. Moreover, as the large part of the junk diet contains meat, am at high risk of getting cardiovascular diseases in that the ingestion of red meat introduces the L-carnitine bacteria in the gut. According to Tang & Hazen, (2014), gut microbiota digest L-carnitine and turn it into a compound that has been shown to cause the disease process leading to cholesterol clogging in arteries (Tang & Hazen, 2014).
